Did You Ask?

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. [2 Kings 2:10]
Did You Ask?
Good Morning Beloved,
God knows everything about everybody and still He says for us to ‘ask’. Remember, “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”. [Luke 11:9] Sometimes the simplest thing can be the hardest. Maybe we think that with world hunger, violence, natural disasters, and poverty, our problems seem minuscule in comparison. That could be the problem. Our prospective is very different from God’s. From His view, He sees the whole picture, past, present and future; as well as our individual situation. Remember the saying, “no man is an island”. What affects us, affects those around us. Example: an earthquake devastates a region, somebody in that city has a relative that lives in a unaffected area, and they have the resources to take care of them. That person has made a change in the world. Everyone who has contributed to help them has also ‘changed the world’. It may not seem like much on a grand scale, but think of how much it means to the person who was helped. There is no such thing as a ‘small blessing’. Knowing that God is our source, is the first step. Simply asking is the next, and then believing that God is able to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think”. In the case of Elijah and Elisha we see two great men of God. Elijah knew that his time was short and he wanted to bless Elisha who had been a faithful servant. Elisha didn’t ask for fame or material items. He asked for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. A strange request, but Elijah promised him that if he saw him when he was ‘caught up’ he would have it. I used to read this and gloss over how difficult this would have been for Elisha. Elijah was caught up in a whirlwind. That would be like trying to see during a level F5 tornado… ever seen the movie ‘Twister’… yeah… like that. I don’t know how he did it, but he did. His request made to a man was granted by the man. Our God is greater than any man. He has all power and the ability to do what would seem to be impossible… but we need to just ask…
… and that Beloved is Good News….
U Blessed!
