Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
[Ephesians 5:25-27]

Good Afternoon Beloved,

Happy Friday!I’m not accepting any Friday the 13th craziness.  This is the day that the Lord has made, so I’ve decided to follow the Psalmist and rejoice and be glad in it.  It’s raining cats, dogs, birds and some more, but I’ve determined not to let a little thing like rain steal my joy… God is too good.  Walking through the rain to work today, I started thinking about what God said about cleansing.  Now, most people use Ephesians 5 when they are talking about married people.  My focus was on Jesus.  The first thing that got my attention was that Jesus loves the church.  That is the most important part. Everything else rests on that love.  His laws, His precepts, His commandments, all stem from His love for us.  The other thing that caught my attention, was the verse that talked about what HE would do.   Always keep in mind that we are in covenant with God.  A covenant is like a contract.  Each party agrees to the terms of their individual ‘parts’ of the agreement.  In this instance, Jesus takes on the responsibility of purifying us.  Preparing us to be presented to Him “spotless”.  Whoa!  Now that is really something.  If you’re like me, you probably don’t think that you’re a ‘bad’ person, however, you know that you are no where near ‘spotless’.  If we’re honest we know that we have a few spots, wrinkles, tears, holes, scratches, but Jesus promises to work out all of that through His Word.  When His Word becomes ‘real’ in us, it will change us.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

[2 Corinthians 5:17]

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

[2 Corinthians 5:17]

So Fresh and So Clean, Clean

Good Morning Beloved,

This morning’s thunderstorm was unnerving and I bless God for getting us to work safely.  You never want to hear the Emergency National Weather Service alert interrupt your radio station… while you’re driving.  I like rain though, and it makes me appreciate the sun even more.  Ever notice how fresh and new everything looks after the rain.  New.  Clean.  Invigorated.  That is what God does to our soul.  He cleanses us with the blood of Jesus.  It is a mystery how red blood, can hit sin “red like crimson” and make it “white as snow”.  How it happens, I don’t know.  I don’t know how a brown cow can eat green grass and produce white milk either, I just know it does.  God washes us with the water of His Word.  Every area, every crevice from our ears to our toes.  By the time His is finished with us we will be sharp from head to toe.  Our vision will be clearer, our hearing fine-tuned, our nose will be able to detect His scent, and discern when something just isn’t smelling right.  Our hands will be tough enough to handle difficulties, but soft and tender enough to offer comfort to someone in need.  Our feet will be on that straight and narrow pathway that will lead us to the presence and blessing of God.

… and that Beloved is Good News!

Holy Spirit Car Wash

Imagine a car wash that not only makes your car clean, it makes it new again. That is just what the Holy Spirit does for us when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Mirror of God’s Word

The Word of God is like a mirror that shows us what we look like on the inside, and shows us where we may need to clean and tidy ourselves up spiritually.
