For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of Sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

[Romans 8:15]

Good Morning Beloved,

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

MySpaceGraphicsandAnimations.org

No.  I’m not confused…. I know that Sunday is Mother’s Day.  I’m looking forward to it (hint, hint Jah).  I am blessed to still have my beautiful mother (hey Ma), and we’re going to have a wonderful weekend.  Late last night, however, I had what I can only describe as a heaviness in my heart.  I couldn’t pinpoint it, but the following thought coursed through my heart.

“How would I feel as a mother, if some stranger told Jah that she was her mother?  How would I feel if Jah started to believe her, turned away from me, and called this other person ‘mom’ .  How would I feel as I watch this person deceive, abuse, confuse and use her?

… and then it made sense.  I felt that I had tapped into a portion of the heart of God.  How must He feel to see His children angry, confused, addicted, destitute, hungry, afraid, depressed, suicidal and even homicidal.  Knowing that He is the answer for every situation, yet we turn to everything but Him.  He watches as everything around us screams that not only is He not our Father, but that He either doesn’t care, is powerless, unloving, unkind, or He simply doesn’t exist at all.  If we are not ‘prayerful’, we will begin to believe the hype and not even realize it.  Don’t believe me, try this the next time a discussion is being had over the latest incident in the news, mention Jesus and watch their reactions.  Some don’t mind the term ”god”, because god to them could signify anything (The young man on American Idol was crowned a “Rock god” by one of the judges this week).  Every now and then it is a good idea to take our own spiritual temperature, just to make sure that the coldness of certain segments of our culture, have not crept into our heart and cooled off the heat of our passion for our Heavenly Father.  We want to remember all that He is, all that He represents, all that He has done, is doing and will do in our future.  He is our real Daddy.  For those whose, fathers and mothers are gone, or were never a positive figure in their life to begin with, God wants you to know that He is real.  He will never leave you.  He sees everything.  He is forgiving.  His discipline is because He loves you and wants the best for and out of you.

… and that Beloved …is Good News!

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him. The Word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (He is Lord of all:) That Word, I say, you know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.

[Acts 10:34-38]

John 14:12

Good Morning Beloved,

Now THAT is good news!  It is also a great responsibility.  Jesus.. the One who opened blind eyes, unstopped deaf ears, raised the dead, multiplied food supernaturally. Jesus, the One who spoke to demons, as they trembled at His very presence, and commanded them to leave the people they possessed.  Jesus, who was not afraid to stand up for righteousness, among the multitudes, as well as, the rulers of that day.  This same Jesus is telling US that we should not only be doing what He did, but even greater works.  Is He saying that we can do a better job than He did?  No.  At the age of twelve, Jesus announced to Mary and Joseph that He must be about His Father’s business, but His public ministry did not begin until He was thirty years old.  Thirty years of preparation for His three-year ministry on earth.  From the time we are birthed into the kingdom of God, until we go home to be with the Lord could be many years.  Those years, however many there are… five, twenty, sixty… are years that we can impact a great number of folks.  The apathy that we see in the culture, mirrors the apathy found in the lives of some of those who name the name of Christ.  Jesus is our Lord, Savior, King, Shepherd, and a whole lot more, and He is our pattern.  Our goal is to look more and more like Jesus everyday.  We will as we shed off the dead stuff that is making us miserable anyway.  A number of years ago, I found a beautiful black kitten in our backyard.  She was abandoned by her mother because she was sickly.  She was blind in one eye and puny.  I took her to the vet, and he didn’t hold out much hope for her.  I took her home and fed her.  She became stronger, but she still couldn’t see out of one eye.  That did not prevent her from running around the house, playing with my daughter, and trying to touch the animals she heard on the TV.  I decided to treat her eye with my grandmother’s favorite cure-all… Vaseline (disclaimer..I had no idea what I was doing…I am not a Vet).  To my amazement the thing on her eye fell off, and revealed the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen on a cat.  She could see! The Lord does the same with us.  His Word is the balm, applied by the Holy Spirit to remove the scales from our eyes, so that we can see Him more clearly.  The better we see Him, the more we trust Him, the more we trust Him the more confidence we have in Him.  He is just who He said that He is, and He will do exactly what He said He will do.  No matter which way the winds of change blow, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us….

… and that Beloved is even more Good News!

Faith Fuel
- Romans 10:17

5 of 102

We need to have faith in God to get us down the highway of life, to the destination that God has planned for us. The Word of God is the fuel that keeps our faith moving along.

Good Morning Beloved,

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!…..

I’m told there is a Sunday School song of yesteryear that says:
Oh, be careful little eyes, what you see.
Oh, be careful little eyes, what you see.
There’s a Father up above, looking down in tender love,
So be careful little eyes, what you see.

Be careful little ears what you hear
Be careful little mouth what you say…
Be careful little hands, what you touch…
Be careful little feet, where you go…

Sound advice because what we give our attention to affects us… good and bad.  A little test… the next time you’re really aggravated, irritated and grouchy… do a quick mental note on what you’ve been watching and listening to.  I’ve done it and it is amazing.  Many years ago, a friend who is like a sister to me, moved in with my mom and me.  She was an exceptional ‘house-guest’, however, at the time she was into the group “Public Enemy”.  She would play this one particular song every morning….. every morning.  I believe it was “Fight the Power”.  I only remember the ‘errrr errrr  errrr errrrrr’ sound in the song.  It was very annoying.  Normally, she was very sweet and mild-tempered, but I noticed how different she was during this song.  Stomping through the house, slamming doors, cursing under her breath… just aggravated.  It was weird… she didn’t even notice she was acting that way …until I told her.  When she stopped listening to that song in the morning…she was normal.  What commands our attention?  When we hear ‘faith’… when we hear the Word of God, it will affect us for the good.  Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.  We should read the paper, listen to the news, keep informed on what is going on around us.  I believe our prayers are even more powerful and effective when we pray for specific situations.  I have adopted the habit of hearing from God first though.  I do not read, or listen to the news until I have either read something from God’s word, or heard something God-focused on my iPod.  My spirit has to have a Godly cushion to absorb the weight of one local, national or world-wide crisis after another that is reported.  God can handle it, and nothing escapes His notice… He knows the end from the beginning so nothing surprises Him.  Remember my boy Joseph?  I was reminded by a teaching yesterday of something I never thought about.  What would have happened if Pharaoh’s butler had remembered Joseph.  What possible motive would Pharaoh have had to release Joseph — a Hebrew slave accused of the attempted rape of the wife of one of his highest officials. We know he didn’t do it, but they didn’t have the benefit of Genesis.  It was looking really grim for Joseph and he could have given into despair.  He was in prison.  Loneliness, depression, violence, anger, and hopelessness was all around him.  He kept his faith in what he had heard about God as a child, as well as what God had showed him in his dreams.  Pharaoh began to have dreams that shook his foundation and he was desparate for an answer.  Now, he has a reason to need something… and Joseph was the only man in the land who had the wisdom and knowledge they needed to survive.  He made it.  We will too…. hold on to what God gave you, no matter how long ago it was that you received it…. it’s coming!

…. and that Beloved of God is Good News!
