“Believe”

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the SON of GOD.
[1 John 5:13]
“Believe”
Good Afternoon Beloved,
So simple… Believe in God. I find it fascinating that all of life’s issues, at their very core, are rooted in this simple truth. Where our faith rests we see the results. If our faith is in our job, what happens when we lose our job. If our faith is in our family, what happens when they aren’t there for whatever reason. If our faith is in our talent, education, intelligence etc.. etc… what happens when we come to the end of our-self. We will find our self in the same state as Solomon…“Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless.” [Ecclesiastes 12:8]. When we shift our focus to the magnitude of God, it will put our life in its proper prospective. Ever had a dream so big it paralyzes you? I have. I’m learning to take it one day at a time… one step at a time. That is difficult for me because I can be impatient at times. What feeds my dream is the Truth that it is impossible for God to lie. If He truly said it .. it will come to pass because He knows the end of the matter. Our life is like a book well read and edited by God. He knows every detail… every page… every chapter… nothing ever catches Him off guard. When we read the Bible, we see the intimate details of the lives of those written about. We see their triumphs and their failures, their strengths and their weaknesses. Their struggles and their proclivities. We watch as they take a mate or take a nation. We see those who trusted in God and honored His people, and those who hated God and His people. We are spectators, but lest we forget, those were actual people who lived real lives. They had no way of knowing what the next chapter held for them. Elisha was minding his own business when the Word of the Lord came to Elijah the prophet:
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapes the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. [1 Kings 19:17]
Now see what Elisha was doing at the time~
So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. [1 Kings 19:19]
That was it… that was Elisha’s calling. He had no idea what God had in store for him. Elijah was right smack in the middle of his pity party after hearing of the “hit” that Jezebel had out on him. He ran to a mountain, and God came to him and had a little conversation with him. He let him know that he was not the only prophet left in Israel that had not lost their mind and worshiped Baal. God gave him instructions on what he was to do next. Elijah did not know it, but God was having him to train his successor … Elisha… but Elisha knew none of this!… Wonder what God is speaking to someone about you and I… right now
… God has you on His mind.
… and that Beloved is Good News! … (..Yes it is! Because ultimately “all things work together for the GOOD to those who love GOD, to them who are the called according to His purpose” …Romans 8:28)

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith GOD, I will pour out of My SPIRIT upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams
[Acts 2:17]
Dreams
Good Afternoon Beloved!
Sorry for the delay… technical difficulties
. Yesterday we commemorated a day set aside to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All over the airwaves, I heard snippets of his timeless “I Have A Dream” speech. I remember hearing his daughter, Rev. Bernice King say that her father was a prophet. It was as though her were looking down the annals of time and letting us know what was coming. I believe he saw the day and time that we are living in, but I believe he would have loved to have been able to experience some of the fruits of his labor. The Bible is honest and balanced. It lets us know that every day will not be sunny, and that we will not always “tiptoe through the tulips” or “lie on a flowery bed of ease” as my mother and grandmother used to say. There will be difficult days, there will be days of preparation, (one of the most common complaints I hear from the young folks around me is that they are so “bored”.. I tell them they’re in prep time) there will be days so hectic we may feel as though we’re drowning. Hold on… God did not bring you this far to leave you. He is right by your side, no matter what you’re going through. He gave us a dream. Something to keep the fire burning with our hearts. Something to give our life purpose and energy. Age is no excuse to quit (you know who I’m talking to ahem… hint, hint
) … I often tell my friends that the “Five Blind Boys of Alabama” are still touring … after 55 years… so we have no excuse
! My sister-in-Christ Melanie Best is a prolific playwright and author. She has a new play that will be performed at her church on February 7th called “Blessed and Highly Favored”. It is an absolutely powerful production that deals in a sensitive manner with childhood bullying, low self worth and suicide. There is a line in there that I really love and it has stuck with me. A child asked why she couldn’t have the finer things in life if her mother’s dreams had really came true. The wise mama tells her that “some dreams are for ourselves, some are for other people and some are for the whole world to benefit from, but the dream that comes from God will turn out just right”. What a Truth! No matter what it looks like in the natural, remember, “faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen”. Trust God and hold on to your faith. He is “well able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that you can every ask or imagine” … keep your dream alive…guard it from the assassins that have been sent by the destroyer to kill it. “Fight the good fight of faith.” Remember that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” We are “over-comers”!!! … I peeked at that end of the book and uhhhh…. we WIN!
.. and that Beloved is Good News!

International Lover
Written by FAVORED1 on November 19, 2009 – 3:52 pm -[Revelation 7:9-17]
). Well, he had a song called ‘International Lover’. In the song he explicitly boasts of his physical prowess. You may ask, “Regina, where are you going with this one?”… well, walking to work (so many of my daily thoughts drop into my heart while I’m walking
), I believe I felt the Lord telling me that He is the REAL International Lover. He loves every man, woman and child on the planet. Every descendant of Adam and Eve… and that covers everybody. Revelation 7 ignited in my heart. If we’re not careful, we can innocently fall under the belief that Jesus is an American. It is very subtle. It can happen in the way that we look at the styles and customs of other nations and shake our heads. Now, sin is sin and the bible pulls no punches as to what is right and what is wrong. The 10 Commandments are for everybody, no matter what culture they were born into. But, we should never confuse ’righteousness’ with ‘personal taste’. You may not enjoy the driving beat of a Carribbean song, and their jubilant praise dances, but to call it ‘worldly’ would be error. Something happened in my life that brought out my own craziness… can I tell on myself? Arlene and I got the chance to visit beautiful Cancun a few years ago. It was the trip of a lifetime, but getting there was another story. The first flight was canceled, and that threw the whole trip schedule off. Long story short, we found ourselves trying to communicate with people who did not speak English. We’re in their country, frustrated because they can’t understand us! Even in the midst of chaos, we had to laugh at ourselves. I joked to Arlene, “Girl, we are really American!
“. Everyone was really friendly and helpful to us, even though they were just as confused as we were. We really don’t mean any harm at all, some things are deeply ingrained in us, and it takes something as simple as what we experienced to bring it to our attention. Some cultures drink wine with their meals, like we drink soft drinks. That sounds strange to us who have been in the church for a while. The bible speaks against ‘drunkenness’… it didn’t say not to drink wine at all (me personally, I don’t drink wine because I never liked the taste). Now, if a person has a problem with alcoholism, don’t drink anything (that’s what I’d say). If the thing is going to lead you into sin, stay far, far away
(that’s bible
). Another case in point, I was watching “Say Yes to the Dress” (my daughter loves those shows, actually she loves clothes). A young lady from India picked out her wedding gown that was going to be dyed red. She explained that in their culture, white gowns are worn to funerals and her family would be “shocked” to see her in a white gown on her wedding day. That would be like a person in our culture wearing a black gown to their wedding… we would think that a little morbid. See? It is good to learn as much as we can from other people. In evangelizing, it is beneficial to know a little something about where the person is coming from. What is offensive in their culture? What do they believe? How do they think, why do they do what they do? Another character trait of Jesus, was that you always found Him in the middle of whatever was going on. Teaching in the temple, speaking to the multitudes on the hillside, preaching from a fisherman’s boat, talking to the children, going to weddings, hanging out at the home of friends, attending dinner parties at the homes of tax collectors (
). Jesus has always been a ‘people person’. It was that very mission that brought Him from His Throne in Glory… His love for and compassion towards the children of Adam and Eve that He created. It is a timeless and eternal love that will never ever end…

“Non-Stop Heavenly Celebration!”
Written by FAVORED1 on June 15, 2009 – 11:20 am -June 15, 2009
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.
(Luke 15:10)
“Non-Stop Heavenly Celebration!”
PRAISE THE LORD!!!
Good Morning Beloved,
Happy Monday! This has been quite a morning. Ever had a huge document that took 3 days to finish seemingly ‘disappear‘ from your computer? Emotions run high. Dread floods your soul when you think of having to start all over again from scratch. Then Bless God you FIND the document tucked away in some obscure file… JOY UNSPEAKABLE
! In this passage, Jesus is giving a few earthly examples of a Heavenly picture. Parables. Stories that drove home His point, and made it easier for His listeners to understand what He was teaching them. A lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost child. All three representing what was most important to His listeners, used to represent what was most important to God. Everything boils down to God recovering the fellowship that was lost way back in the Garden of Eden. When we ‘flip the script’ and repent, we actually turn our hearts to God, and the party is ON!
…. and that Beloved is Good News!

Chillin’ With Jesus
Written by FAVORED1 on March 19, 2009 – 12:49 pm -Thursday, March 19, 2009
As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what He taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to You that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-41
*****
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receives whomsoever I send receives Me; and he that receives Me receives Him that sent Me. When Jesus had thus said, He was troubled in Spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray Me. Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom He spake. Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom He spake. He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when He had dipped the sop, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
John 13:20-26
“Chillin’ With Jesus”
Good Afternoon Beloved,
This thought has been in my heart all morning. I’ve been thinking how many people spend so many years afraid of God and misinterpreting His Word. This is nothing new. I grew up around seasoned saints who taught us to fear and reverence God. Nothing wrong with that, in fact we could use a little more reverence. However, that school of thought, while sincerely trying to keep us from blaspheming God, and ending up with a one-way ticket to a very real lake of fire, it inadvertently did something else. It made us so afraid of God that we could not enjoy Him. His Holiness demands obedience; His Heart desires love and fellowship. If we can ever get the two in harmony with our spirit, we would be the greatest treasures ever, and exactly what God intended when He created us in the first place. God is powerful, He is magnificent, He is great, He created every living creature on the face of the earth and placed within that creature the ability to reproduce after its kind. It is amazing that a man and a woman can come together, and produce a child with traits, not only of both of them, but other people in their family. Not only that, but this same couple can have multiple children of different shapes, sizes, facial structures, temperaments, coloring, etc. That is what God wants to… children of different colors, shapes, sizes, temperaments, hair textures, that have His nature. People who He can look at and say, “Now THAT one is MINE!”. Whew! God is beyond amazing. A friend of mine had a really inspired thought. She said that, “Science is the study of God… they just don’t know it”…(thanks Tina
). Everywhere they try to go, He is there. When they try to go around Him, they only end up frustrating themselves, and calling the phenomenon “inexplicable”
. Well, the “Inexplicable”… He is our Lord, our King, our Savior, our Sovereign, our Shelter, our Strong Tower, our Kinsmen Redeemer, our Waymaker, our Peace, our Counselor, our Doctor, our Lawyer
… our Brother….. our Friend.
…. and that Beloved is Good News!

It’s Not Dead.
Written by FAVORED1 on March 12, 2009 – 9:53 am -Thursday, March 12, 2009
One day Elisha went to the town of Shunem. A wealthy woman lived there, and she urged him to come to her home for a meal. After that, whenever he passed that way, he would stop there for something to eat. She said to her husband, “I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.” One day Elisha returned to Shunem, and he went up to this upper room to rest. He said to his servant Gehazi, “Tell the woman from Shunem I want to speak to her.” When she appeared, Elisha said to Gehazi, “Tell her, ‘We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’” “No,” she replied, “my family takes good care of me.” Later Elisha asked Gehazi, “What can we do for her?” Gehazi replied, “She doesn’t have a son, and her husband is an old man.” “Call her back again,” Elisha told him. When the woman returned, Elisha said to her as she stood in the doorway, “Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!” “No, my lord!” she cried. “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” But sure enough, the woman soon became pregnant. And at that time the following year she had a son, just as Elisha had said.
[2 Kings 4:8-17]
“It’s Not Dead”
Good Morning Beloved,
Ever had a dream that just died. Something you’ve been waiting for, years have passed, and it just has not happened. Ever just said, “forget it”…. it’s not going to happen. It could be a career, a home, marriage or having a child like the woman in 2 Kings. From all appearances, this lady had a good life. She had a good husband with which she shared mutual respect, a good family, a nice home and she was wealthy. She was probably envied by those around her. She was also very generous, thoughtful, and she loved God. We can tell by her treatment of God’s man-servant. She wanted nothing more than to be a blessing to Elisha. Elisha saw her heart and was so grateful that he wanted to do something for her. Eisha was a powerful prophet, trained at the side of another great prophet “Elijah” (you know ‘call-down-fire-from-heaven Elijah’). When Elijah was escorted to heaven, Elisha asked for, and received, a double portion of his anointing. That means he was twice as powerful as Elijah, and everyone knew it…including the king. He had the ear of the king, and great influence in the land. Whatever she asked him for, he would have been able to provide. She never asked for anything but Elisha’s servant noticed that the woman did not have a son. When Elisha told her she would give birth to a son by the next year…we see another side of this gracious lady. That was a sore subject with her. She had probably resigned herself to it never happening, and here he comes. It would be like a wound that never fully healed, but a scab had developed over it. Elisha in essence ripped off the scab revealing wound. It hurt. She did not want to get her hopes up. She simply could not allow herself to be disappointed again… but something was going on. Her servant’s heart had not only garnered the attention of Elisha, his servant Gehazi, her family and the townspeople; but more importantly the Almighty God of Heaven had noticed. He saw her actions and knew her motivation, and in the end, blessed her with her greatest heart’s desire. That same God, that took notice of the little woman from Shunem, is the same God that sees us right now.

All Hail The King
Written by FAVORED1 on February 25, 2009 – 10:37 am -Wednesday, February 25, 2009
It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty Throne, and the train of His Robe filled the Temple. Attending Him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other,
“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with His Glory!”
Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for Us?”
I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
[Isaiah 6:1-8]
“All Hail The King”
Good Morning Beloved,

I love this picture of our God. Powerful, majestic, awe-inspiring. In all of our imagery of royalty down through the ages… our eyes have never beheld a true depiction of the Glory of God. Hollywood has tried, bless their hearts, but the real thing is mind-blowing, for lack of a better term. Everyone in the bible who ever had a heavenly encounter had the same initial reaction time and time again … fear. The awareness of being in the presence of Someone so awesome and powerful, their body couldn’t handle it. That is why, when contact was made in scripture, the first words spoken were, “fear not”. Jesus said it, as well as a few heavenly messengers. They had to speak to the fear in the person, to stop them from passing out (or away), under the weight of the Glory. Behind the scenes, there is a lot going on… preparation. We too are being prepared. We are being strengthed and cleansed from the inside out. Many of God’s children are recognizing our short-comings and taking responsibility for them like Isaiah did. Being in the presence of absolute Holiness will have that affect on a person. We can no longer judge our standards by another fallible human being, but the bar is set much higher… Jesus. That’s when we know we’re in trouble… BUT…The Holy Spirit is working to make us ready. Notice, how the Angel made no mention of the people around Isaiah with the filthy lips? Everybody has to get their own “lips” right with God for themselves
. No matter what is going on around us, we will be able to stand… and not only stand… but triumph… because of the King.
… and that Beloved is Good News!

Pray
Written by FAVORED1 on February 20, 2009 – 2:05 pm -Friday, February 20, 2009
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
Good Afternoon Beloved,
Sorry for the lateness of the ‘Soul Food’… I’ve been a little under the weather. “Pray ye one for another”… that is what is reverberating in my heart today. Yesterday I received the heartbreaking news of one of our Soul Food sisters who lost a church member to suicide. Today I read a news report of a man who walked into the Crystal Cathedral (remember the “Hour of Power” television broadcast), handed the usher a note with his drivers license, walked to the foot of the cross at the altar, and shot and killed himself –ironically both incidents happened on Wednesday. A while back one of my “Faith Spot” online community sisters lost her beloved nephew to suicide. I remember a line from “Its a Wonderful Life”, where Clarence the angel said something to the effect that, each persons’ life touches so many other people, and when they’re gone they leave a hole. This is especially true in the family of God. We have the same Heavenly Daddy, that makes us brother and sisters. In this age we’re living in, now more than ever, the strong must bear the infirmities of the weak. We don’t know what will take someone to their breaking point, but we need to be vigilant. We may not be able to stop every incidence, but we may never know how many tragedies have already be averted because of the watchful, praying spirit of a child of God. That is the good news. I know I am here because of a praying mother, grandmother, church mothers, Pastor, friends, church family, co-workers, etc. etc. etc. The person may never know (it’s nice if they do), but if they don’t.. pray anyway…it is effective. What if you pray for someone and it still ends badly for them?…. know that you did all you could, and do not allow the adversary to put condemnation on you. We have all been given the gift of a free will.
Love on somebody this weekend… leave nothing unsaid within your circle of influence, and most of all share with somebody the Gospel …. however you best communicate it. I am a ‘theater person’. I use drama to ’show’ the gospel. As Fred Hammond once stated, “the gospel must be seen”. I like to write, so here we are, “the morning Soul Food”. Also, we can share our faith by simply developing relationships with people. Not, meeting them and clobbering them with God’s precious Word, but actually taking the time to get to know people, and “allowing our light to so shine before humanity that they would see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven”. People really don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. I’ve had people ask me how are you so doggone (ok…they didn’t say doggone
), happy everyday… I let ‘em know… hey… they asked
. When I lost a job I had a few years ago, I smiled, hugged the ‘terminators’, said my good-byes and rolled out. People called and emailed to check on me. I let them know that I was fine and that God had always taken care of me, and He would continue. That was November, 2006, I worked a few very short-term temp jobs until February, 2007. I joined a new agency they had an assignment that was only to last one month. I said, “great!”, my friend and sister-in-Christ Arlene had given me a great birthday gift… an all expense paid trip on the ”One Love Gospel Cruise”. The trip was in March, 2007. Before I left, for the trip the VP of the office where I was on assignment called me into her office and asked if I would like to come back, after my trip. I said sure (I’m still there). They got a temp while I was on vacation… can you believe that… a temp for a temp! That’s God… He knows what we need for sure! Prayer works. I know it has been my extreme honor and privilege to see God at work in the lives of people God has placed in my path.
… and that dearly Beloved is Good News!

“PROMISE KEEPER”
Good Morning Beloved,
We live in a world that makes excuse for, at best or will validate at worst, broken promises. No one is really expected to keep or even make a promise. It is even considered foolish and unwise by some (“you never know what will happen”). There always seems to be a back door. However, our Heavenly Father says,
Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My Ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
“And so, My children, listen to Me, for all who follow My ways are joyful”
[Proverbs 8:32]
What are His ways?
He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His Ways are judgment: a God of Truth and without iniquity, Just and Right is He. [Deuteronomy 32:4]
His ways are also-
generous, gracious, interactive, honest, loyal, reverent, merciful, loving, pure in heart, sanctified (set apart), respectful, preserver of life, faithful, truthful, great, glorified, friendly, eternal…. holy.
He is a God whose ways are declared by scripture to be “beyond knowing”, yet He calls us to seek Him and promises to be found. Sound contradictory? Not really. What I believe that means, is that we can spend a lifetime getting to know God, and we will have only scratched the surface of what there is to know.
… and that Child of God is exciting Good News!
U Blessed!
Have a Fabulous Day

The Gift That Keeps On Giving!
Written by FAVORED1 on December 22, 2008 – 11:45 am -Monday, December 22, 2008
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Good Morning Beloved,
Happy Monday!…. wow! Some winter welcome we received today huh DC/Metro?…. 17 bone-chilling, Hawk-biting degrees! When I think about this season, I am reminded of the truth found in John 3:16, “for God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”… That is probably one of the first scriptures most of us learned. Jesus…. the gift that keeps on giving. This gift will never get old. It will never tear, break, or tarnish. It can’t be lost, stolen, foreclosed on or repossessed. It will never be too small, too big or go out of style. God is the same today, yesterday and forevermore. His gift of Love will keep us all the days of our life and when our days on earth are complete, this gift of love will usher us past angelic hosts into the very presence of the God of all for a great reward.
…. and that… my Royal Sibling is Good News!
U Blessed,
Have A Fabulous Day
Regina
