Doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
Numbers 14:30

For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
Numbers 26:65

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.
Numbers 32:12

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,

“Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”

Then said I, Here am I; send Me.

[Isaiah 6:8]

There’s A Payday Coming for Obedience… and Disobedience.

Good Morning Beloved,

“God’s ways are not our ways… neither are His thoughts are thoughts”.  He may tell us to do something that seems crazy, but He knows what He’s doing.  He told the Children of Israel that He was taking them to a place that He had given them.  If I own a piece of property.. it is mine to do with what I want.  If I want to sell it or give it away it is my choice. “The Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world, and they that dwell therein”.  The reason God could give them occupied territory was that it was His to give.  That concept bothers some people.  It may seem unfair, but it is what it is.  He chose to serve eviction notice on the inhabitants, and move in those who had promised to bless. All land belongs to God.  We have all heard the prayer of Jabez.. “Enlarge my territory”.  God can do that because the territory is His.  God will be as big in our life as we allow Him to be.  If we choose to reject Him, the payday is a life cut off from the blessings and promises of God.  And even worse than that, a possible eternity without Him… payday for disobedience.  “If you can believe, all things are possible to those that believe” .. Payday!
… that Beloved is Good News!

A Prince In Lodebar

One day David asked, “Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” He summoned a man named Ziba, who had been one of Saul’s servants. “Are you Ziba?” the king asked. “Yes sir, I am,” Ziba replied. The king then asked him, “Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them.” Ziba replied, “Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.” “Where is he?” the king asked. “In Lo-debar,” Ziba told him, “at the home of Makir son of Ammiel.” So David sent for him and brought him from Makir’s home. His name was Mephibosheth; he was Jonathan’s son and Saul’s grandson. When he came to David, he bowed low to the ground in deep respect. David said, “Greetings, Mephibosheth.” Mephibosheth replied, “I am your servant.” “Don’t be afraid!” David said. “I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king’s table!” Mephibosheth bowed respectfully and exclaimed, “Who is your servant, that you should show such kindness to a dead dog like me?” Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and your sons and servants are to farm the land for him to produce food for your master’s household.  But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, will eat here at my table.” (Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)   Ziba replied, “Yes, my lord the king; I am your servant, and I will do all that you have commanded.” And from that time on, Mephibosheth ate regularly at David’s table, like one of the king’s own sons.  Mephibosheth had a young son named Mica. From then on, all the members of Ziba’s household were Mephibosheth’s servants. And Mephibosheth, who was crippled in both feet, lived in Jerusalem and ate regularly at the king’s table.

A Prince In Lodebar

Good Morning Beloved,

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of hanging out and fellowshipping with my family at their church.  They had a guest preacher all the way from Atlanta, Georgia.  He ministered from 2 Samuel 9.. one of my favorite biblical passages.  Many of you will remember, there was a time when vengeance was enacted upon the sons of Saul because of what Saul had done in killing innocent priests. All they did was to show kindness to David when he was running from Saul.  Saul found out about it and had them killed.. all but the son of one, who escaped to David’s protection.  Those who remained demanded blood and since Saul was dead by this time, they decided that his sons were close enough.  Many years before, something happened that set-up the scenario in 2nd Samuel.  During the confusion of war, little Mephibosheth‘s nurse, tripped and fell while trying to save him and he became lame.  She took him to a place called Lodebar.  In modern terms “The Ghetto”.  Here he was a prince, forced out of the palace and into the Ghetto for his own protection.  He kept a low profile for years.  No doubt he heard about the death of his 70 uncles.  I’m sure he knew of his grand-daddy Saul’s wickedness, as well as his father Jonathan’s bravery.  What I don’t believe he fully understood was the relationship between his daddy and David.  They were covenant brothers.  David had promised Jonathan that he would take care of his children. David had also promised Saul that he would not cut off his lineage.  David made good on his promise.  Mephibosheth was probably terrified when he received the royal summons from David.  He thought that David was going to finish off the last remaining remnant of Saul… but to David Mephibosheth was a son.  Not because of anything that he did, but because of covenant.  We are children of the most high God.  In covenant relationship with the King of all Kings and the Lord of all Lords.  He sees and doesn’t see.  That means He see where we are, no matter where that is, and He sees where He is going to take us.  He sees the end of the story, we’re walking it out page by page.  Life has many turns and twists… joys and trouble, but the end is victory.  Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.  You are blessed coming in and blessed going out.  “If you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land”. “Your latter days will be better than your former days”, and just like Mephibosheth your end will be in the Palace with the King!

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

(Philippians 4:6 ~King James Version)

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

{Philippians 4:6 ~New Living Translation)

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

{Philippians 4:6 ~Amplified Bible)

Calm Down… It’s Comin’

Good Afternoon Beloved,

Well, it certainly has been an interesting couple of days huh DC/Metro?   I don’t know about you, but our family got a lot of overdue bonding done.  So special.  Well, we just experienced another Valentines Day, and for those who have no ‘love’ for this particular day of celebration…(pun intended)… you made it! Today, I had a strange song repeating over and over in my head.  The melody was the Sam Cook classic “Another Saturday Night and I ain’t got nobody”, but the lyrics were changed to, Another Valentines Day and I ain’t got nobody”… far too many, ‘saints’ and ‘ain’ts’ alike sing this song.  Of course most of us are fortunate enough to have loving friends and family who adore us.  Every one of us is blessed with an eternal God who knows us intimately, yet loves us unconditionally.  “Love itself” is not the issue.  The thing is, that men and women of all races, faces and economic places are traveling in the same ship of singleness.  Many are trying desperately to abandon that ship for the “Love Boat”.  If I’m being honest, I know that feeling all too well.  I’ve even dipped into the sea of “anxiety” a time or two.  Not fun.  I’ve heard all the sermons (I’ve even preached a few of them myself ), and read a lot of books, most having to do with waiting on the Lord for His perfect timing and His “BEST” for us singles.  I’ve had the conversations with well-meaning married brother and sisters-in-Christ who try to convince me that I should enjoy this wonderful time of singleness.  In my twenties, that was cool… I hit my thirties and I was still there… riding with it … “chillin”… now… at 42… well…. let’s just say I’m not as ‘relaxed’ as I once was (!!).  Now we’re gettin’ a wee bit …dare I say it…anxious!  God’s Word is the same, as He is the same.  It is ever-evolving, but never changing.  It will be as relevant 100 years from now as it is this very minute.  I consider myself an upbeat, positive, glass-half-full type of gal, but I experienced a thought last night, that reminded me that I haven’t “arrived”(wherever “arrived” is).  I was thinking about all of the messages I have heard on “waiting” and I said, “I just don’t wanna hear that anymore” (that shocks you?… I know, I was shocked myself).  I walked into the living room, turned on the television and who should be speaking but –Pastor Joel Olsteen.  What was he saying?  You guessed it.  He was talking being content where we are, and waiting on God’s perfect timing.  His analogy: The single woman waiting impatiently for a husband.  What did this sweet, anointed, virtuous, powerful, gifted, faithful, seasoned preacher woman of God say? “shut-up Joel!” ….. awwww…. poor Joel.  He was preaching his heart out, but I was having a moment.  Thankfully, “moments” pass, but the Word of God will stand.  No matter how I happen to feel about a situation, the fact still remains, that God is sovereign.  He has a plan for my life that is better than anything I can even imagine right now.  Behind the curtain, He is doing something and soon it will be center stage where everyone (myself included)will be able to see.  Until then… (*sigh) I must… wait on the Lord and be of good courage and He will strengthen my heart.  No matter what… my heart will remain fixed on the God of my Salvation who listens, understands and cares.

…. and that Beloved is Good News!

Y Stress? … U Blessed!
