And JESUS answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The LORD our GOD is one LORD: And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

It’s All About Love

Awwwwwwww… Valentine’s Day. Y’all knew I was gonna do it! LOL! This day has many supposed origins. I like this one best:

Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer’s daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it “From Your Valentine”. Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine… Under the rule of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the Cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that Roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. As a result, Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. The good Saint Valentine was a priest at Rome in the days of Claudius II. He and Saint Marius aided the Christian martyrs and secretly married couples, and for this kind deed Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off….

Wow! I love the many facets of .. love.. The greatest love of course is the love God has for us. I don’t think we’ll ever fully understand that love until we see Him face to Face. Then there is the love we have for one another. The Bible says ~

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of GOD’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! But when full understanding comes, these partial things will become useless. When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as GOD now knows me completely. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

And… there is that romantic love between a man and woman. There are those who dislike this day for the same reason many dislike the Christmas Holiday. They feel it is all commercialization and hype. Folks say, “well, if you don’t know I love you 364 days a year, one day won’t make a difference”. Well, I’d like to go on record saying that I’m a hopeless romantic, who happens to be single (at the moment) and I LOVE Valentine’s Day. I’ve watched my co-workers beam this morning when I wished them a “Happy Valentine’s Day”. It is Monday, and everybody has an extra little spring in their step this morning. No groggy “good mornings”. So, a day that celebrates love, and makes people smile and feel special is OK in my book. Should you make folks feel special every day? .. absolutely. However, I’ve noticed that when a day is global, something shifts in the atmosphere.. so enjoy this day. If you have a “Boo” or a “Sweetheart” .. be extra sweet to them. If you don’t have one yet, know that you are loved beyond your comprehension by a King. You are loved by your family.. you are loved by your friends… and you are loved by ME! HUGZ!!!!

Abiding Love

And we have known and believed the love that God has toward us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

Abiding Love

Good Afternoon Beloved,

So we are loved by our Heavenly Father. Loved beyond our human comprehension. He created also in us a desire to receive love and companionship from another human being. “Jesus with skin on” as one frightened little girl observed. Love in all of its forms is nice, but the best love is “Agape”. I found it interesting that when I looked up the correct meaning, there were two. Two meanings, two seemingly different words … and l I got “a revelation”. The first was “agape”, an English word meaning “wide open, expectant, eager”. The second was taken from the Greek word “Agape”… “A self-sacrificing love, a love that lacks self-interest, self-gratification and self-preservation. Wide open… love without fear. Strong and tender. That is the love God has for us. That is the love that He has placed in our hearts for other people. Fear is the thief that would try and steal it from us. Fear of being taken advantage of. Fear of rejection. Fear of loss. Fear of “looking silly”. When we love with abandon, we will gain more than we can ever lose. If we have hidden our heart in the secret place of the most high, it is in good Hands. We’re to demonstrate the heart of God to a heartless generation. The will of God to those who are unwilling to change… right now, but hopefully will before it’s too late. The hands of God on the earth to touch the hurt and dying. The feet of God to walk through all sorts of dry places and set the captives free. The sweet aroma of God to lift the spirits of those cast down. The intelligence of God to pique the interest of the “learned”. Yes, Agape does have a cost, but in God’s eyes… it’s well worth it…

… and that beloved is Good News!
