For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

[Ephesians 3:14-21]

FAMILY JEWELS

Good Afternoon Beloved,

This is one of my favorite scriptures.  My God is ABLE!  As I was reading this, I saw something else that jumped out at me.  The part about all of the “family” of earth being named for Jesus Christ.  Remember Jesus is called the “Last Adam”.  We are all natural descendants of the “first Adam”, however we have been given a choice as to whether we choose to be part of the family of the “Last Adam”. The way has been made, the invitation given to each and every member of the human “family”, however, God graciously gave us free-will to choose. Considering the alternative, I don’t know why anyone would choose not to be.  I suspect it is because they don’t really believe what He said.  Family… I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.  Saturday, I attended a memorial service in honor of my late Grandmother Frances Adele Hockaday — she was 93 years old.  I did not know a lot about her, had only met her a few times.  She had nine children including my dad and seven are still alive.  Five of them attended the service.  It was interesting looking at people so closely related and yet total strangers.  Happily, steps were taken to rectify this with several family members.  However, it made me think about all of the people I’ve been blessed by God to have as part of my life.  They are my ‘family’.  We are connected through our heavenly Father and through common bonds that we share.  I once heard it said “friends are the family we choose” … I think that is a pretty accurate sentiment, but it is even deeper.  We are all part of the human family, we’re just more connected to some than others.  Just like in a natural family, there are personalities that just click better.  The love of Jesus binds and unites us.  We are a stronger family because of Him.  When we come into faith and the knowledge of our place in the ‘Family of God’, I believe we really start to truly live.  It is more than just being a part of a local church.  I’ve gone to many different “churches” in different states, different cultures, different styles of music, but the Spirit is the same.  I get the same feeling of being amongst family.  That is how it will be when we get home to Glory. Denominations will be completely unnecessary.  There will be no fear or pride.. just God.  Pure, complete, unrestrained praise and worship of our Heavenly Father.  Pure enjoyment of our brothers and sisters without silly arguments, misleading ‘wacky’ doctrines, confusion, suspicion, jealousy etc… etc… etc…  Family.. the way it was designed to be.. Hey… here’s a thought.. why not practice now.. let’s be the Family of the True and Living God! Living in holiness, peacemakers, lovers of all that is good… allowing our light to so shine before men that all may see our good works and glorify our Father who is in Heaven!

And JESUS answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The LORD our GOD is one LORD:  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment.  And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

[Mark 12:29-31]

Good Afternoon Beloved!

Happy Friday! MySpaceGraphicsandAnimations.org

… Well… most of us have been on a little unscheduled vacation here in the Washington Metro region.  Those two snow storms back to back showed us who was boss.  We have long been viewed as ‘wimps’ by our northern kinfolk, in terms of how we deal with inclement weather.  This was an extremely uncommon occurrence for us.  We’ve had no experience in dealing with anything of this magnitude.  Overall, I believe we are doing well under the circumstances.  I always try to find the silver lining under a situation.  In this case, it is the many ‘love’ stories and random acts of heroism and kindness that have been displayed.  In my neighborhood, some beautiful soul shoveled a pathway all the way to the corner (a BIG deal when the snow is up to your hips).  Whole neighborhoods have gotten together and dug themselves out.  People have demonstrated… love.  Well, this Sunday is Valentine’s Day.  It has many supposed origins.  The one I like best is this one:

There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine’s Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer’s daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it “From Your Valentine”. Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine… Under the rule of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the Cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. As a result, Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. The good Saint Valentine was a priest at Rome in the days of Claudius II. He and Saint Marius aided the Christian martyrs and secretly married couples, and for this kind deed Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off….

What a story!  In all of the stories, the common denominator is that this was a good man, unjustly persecuted for a noble cause… Valentine’s Day makes PDA’s really cool (public displays of affection).  It gives us a good excuse to tell those we love how we feel about them.  Not just your mate, but your family, friends and acquaintances.  Shoot ‘em a note and show ‘em your love  Jesus said that we as children of God, would be known by our love.  “Perfect love casts out all fear” (1 John 4:18).  Love is mult-functional.. The Bible says ~

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of GOD’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! But when full understanding comes, these partial things will become useless. When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.  All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as GOD now knows me completely. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

[1 Corinthians 13:1-13]

Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art GOD.

[Psalm 90]

Bored?  Why?

Good Afternoon Beloved!

Welcome to a brand new month!… February the month of L.O.V.E  …and Black History.  Well, speaking of love, last night, I saw a movie based on the life of Solomon.  Solomon, is deemed the wealthiest and wisest of all earthly kings — past and present.  It is ironic that this great king who reigned 40 years in Jerusalem, was defeated not by any great army, or pestilence or lack.. but by his wives (who were all princesses) .. 700 to be exact.. not to mention his 300 concubines (mistresses in modern terms).  He imploded.  He was destroyed from right inside his own house.  The bible says that he “loved many strange women” (1 Kings 11:1-43) and that these women, “turned away his heart” from following God “fully”.  These women came into their marriage to Solomon with their own idols and customs.  Solomon built houses for them and allowed them to build altars and sacrifice to their gods… something God had strictly forbidden — they even built idols to Chemosh and Molech whose followers practiced all sorts of strange rituals, including child sacrifice.  He went a step further and began offering sacrifices to these strange pagan deities to please his women.  His kingdom was in an uproar.  How could their king, whom God had blessed with so much, dare to insult the Holy One, by worshipping false gods.  I noticed that these incidents were recorded as happening when Solomon was “old”.  It made me think of the person who has been in church many, many years and does something so out of character that you fear for their sanity.  The dangerous flip side of “familiarity”.  It is good to draw close to God and seek His face.  To desire to know Him and to bask in His Presence.  What we want to avoid is, becoming so familiar with the things of God, that we twist His Word to make it fit our situation, take Him for granted, or worse, blaspheme His name and “turn away” from Him as Solomon did.  The wise and humble King Solomon that we met in 1 Kings Chapter 3, is now unrecognizable.  Now we are faced with a cynical, angry, hard-headed, murderous King Solomon.  By the end of the 11th chapter Solomon is dead and his kingdom in shreds… by God’s own Hands.  God told Solomon that because of his idolatry, He would split his kingdom.  The only reason he was not killed, or that his son even got to keep one tribe out of the 12, was because of God’s love and respect for his daddy David.  God promised David that he would always have a son on the throne.  Solomon had an advantage most of us have yet to have… the opportunity to talk to God and to hear God speak back to him in an audible voice… twice!  God gave him clear cut instructions… no guess-work involved.  He told him what he needed to do to keep the peace God had placed over his kingdom.  God warned him what would happen, if he chose to disobey, and everything God said came to pass.  The mercy is that the choice was always Solomon’s.  He could have turned back to God at any time.  His story did not end well for him, but we can take so many lessons away from his life.  The best lesson is to always keep our hearts turned toward God, no matter what stage and season we find ourselves in.  To never get to the point where we think we’ve “arrived” and no one can tell us anything.  To keep our hands “busy” and our minds “sharp”.  One of Solomon’s problems seems to be that he was bored — even with 1,000 women!  He had no wars to fight, no kingdoms to conquer, the land was enjoying a season of peace… bought with David’s relationship with God and his fierce army… and he was bored.  God is our dwelling place… we live in Him and He lives in us… whoa!… (pause… breathe) .. He has so much for us that if we were to know it all, we would not be able to handle it… How can we possibly get “bored”?  I am noticing that God is doing a new thing with His youth… I pulled this message from a young brother-in-Christ named Brandon.  I’ve worked with Brandon on a couple of stage productions, and it is beautiful to watch him grow in his relationship with God~
…and who are you doing this job for…because if you were doing it for God you wouldn’t be miserable when you go to work..because in God there’s only fullness of joy…whatever you ‘re doing it should be to glorify the Lord not to just make ends meet..you’re work should be perfect a image of the work of God…because everything he does is perfect and how can you how can you do something perfect when your blinded by laziness and misery….also think of it as a stage in the process of your dream being born

Good Afternoon Beloved!

Sorry for the delay… technical difficulties.  Yesterday we commemorated a day set aside to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  All over the airwaves, I heard snippets of his timeless “I Have A Dream” speech.  I remember hearing his daughter, Rev. Bernice King say that her father was a prophet.  It was as though her were looking down the annals of time and letting us know what was coming.  I believe he saw the day and time that we are living in, but I believe he would have loved to have been able to experience some of the fruits of his labor.  The Bible is honest and balanced.  It lets us know that every day will not be sunny, and that we will not always “tiptoe through the tulips” or “lie on a flowery bed of ease” as my mother and grandmother used to say.  There will be difficult days, there will be days of preparation, (one of the most common complaints I hear from the young folks around me is that they are so “bored”.. I tell them they’re in prep time) there will be days so hectic we may feel as though we’re drowning.  Hold on… God did not bring you this far to leave you.  He is right by your side, no matter what you’re going through.  He gave us a dream.  Something to keep the fire burning with our hearts.  Something to give our life purpose and energy.  Age is no excuse to quit (you know who I’m talking to ahem… hint, hint ) … I often tell my friends that the “Five Blind Boys of Alabama” are still touring … after 55 years… so we have no excuse!  My sister-in-Christ Melanie Best is a prolific playwright and author.  She has a new play that will be performed at her church on February 7th called “Blessed and Highly Favored”.  It is an absolutely powerful production that deals in a sensitive manner with childhood bullying, low self worth and suicide.  There is a line in there that I really love and it has stuck with me.  A child asked why she couldn’t have the finer things in life if her mother’s dreams had really came true.  The wise mama tells her that “some dreams are for ourselves, some are for other people and some are for the whole world to benefit from, but the dream that comes from God will turn out just right”.  What a Truth!  No matter what it looks like in the natural, remember, “faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen”.  Trust God and hold on to your faith.  He is “well able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that you can every ask or imagine” … keep your dream alive…guard it from the assassins that have been sent by the destroyer to kill it.  “Fight the good fight of faith.”  Remember that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”  We are “over-comers”!!! … I peeked at that end of the book and uhhhh…. we WIN!

Grace In Action

Written by FAVORED1 on November 2, 2009 – 3:46 pm -

Holy Bible: Genuine Soul Food

November 2, 2009

One day David asked, “Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” He summoned a man named Ziba, who had been one of Saul’s servants. “Are you Ziba?” the king asked. “Yes sir, I am,” Ziba replied. The king then asked him, “Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them.”  Ziba replied, “Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.” “Where is he?” the king asked. “In Lo-debar,” Ziba told him, “at the home of Makir son of Ammiel.” So David sent for him and brought him from Makir’s home. His name was Mephibosheth; he was Jonathan’s son and Saul’s grandson. When he came to David, he bowed low to the ground in deep respect. David said, “Greetings, Mephibosheth.” Mephibosheth replied, “I am your servant.” “Don’t be afraid!” David said. “I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king’s table!” Mephibosheth bowed respectfully and exclaimed, “Who is your servant, that you should show such kindness to a dead dog like me?” Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and your sons and servants are to farm the land for him to produce food for your master’s household.  But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, will eat here at my table.” (Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.) Ziba replied, “Yes, my lord the king; I am your servant, and I will do all that you have commanded.” And from that time on, Mephibosheth ate regularly at David’s table, like one of the king’s own sons. Mephibosheth had a young son named Mica. From then on, all the members of Ziba’s household were Mephibosheth’s servants. And Mephibosheth, who was crippled in both feet, lived in Jerusalem and ate regularly at the king’s table.

[2 Samuel 9]

‘GRACE IN ACTION’

Good Afternoon Beloved,

I hope your weekend was a blessed as mine was.  My family and friends really made my birthday special.  I love the story of David. He was an interesting person.  I’ve talked about him before, but today I thought about another relatively unknown character… Mephibosheth.  He was the only son of David’s best friend Jonathan.  Remember, they were like brothers.  Jonathan had not only spoke over David’s life and told him that God had given the kingdom to him, but he had also saved David’s life.  He even commented that he would serve with David when David took over the throne.  Sadly, Jonathan died in battle alongside his father Saul and two of his brothers.  After David was firmly situated as king, he asked if there was any of Saul’s people left that he could bless.  That was a strange request seeing that any of Saul’s descendants could have fought for control over the throne.  They could have killed David and his followers.  David was told about Jonathan’s son.  Mephibosheth was basically living in poverty and fear.  His grandfather Saul had commanded that 85 priests and their families be killed when he was searching for David.  Their crime?  Not telling Saul which way David went.  Only one of priests’ son escaped, and David promised to take care of him for the rest of his life… which he did.  God caused a famine to come upon the land because of it.  David approached the Gibeonites and asked them what he could do to make it right with them.  They decided they wanted the death of seven of Saul’s sons (thank God for our new covenant of grace and mercy) and David complied (1 Samuel 22:16-19) … but he saved Jonathan’s son.  Now, it doesn’t appear that Mephibosheth knew any of this.  Can you imagine the fear he lived in when his grand-daddy’s kids were killed?  He must have thought that his days were numbered… that David was coming to get him too.  Can you imagine how he felt the day that he was summoned into David’s presence?  Probably unimaginable terror.  He couldn’t run … he was lame on both of his feet.  He had no power chair to get around.  Life had to have been very difficult for him.  This is where the story gets interesting… instead of killing him, David tells him that because of his friendship with his daddy, that he was going to take care of him.  WOW!  Grace in action.  Not only that, but he restored to Mephibosheth all of the property that belonged to Saul’s family, and charged Saul’s servant Ziba and his family to take care of it for Mephibosheth.  I love this story because it gives such a powerful example of God’s love working through a real live flesh and blood person.  Everyday we are challenged with all sorts of decisions.  People that have talked about us, double-crossed us you name it.  The test of the child of God is what we do when we have an opportunity to really ‘get them’.  David could have exacted revenge on Saul’s whole lineage for all the years that Saul tormented him.  They were a part of his kingdom now, and he could have really made them suffer, but he chose to honor his commitment to Jonathan and bless his son.  Mephibosheth did absolutely nothing to deserve the enormous favor that was poured out on him… it was all because of his father… hmmm… that sounds familiar… everything we receive is because of our Father…. isn’t that something?

… now that Beloved is Good News!

“First Love…”

“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Ephesus. This is the message from the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, the one who walks among the seven gold lamp stands:   “I know all the things you do.  I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance.  I know you don’t tolerate evil people.  You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not.  You have discovered they are liars.  You have patiently suffered for Me without quitting. “But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love Me or each other as you did at first Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to Me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lamp stand from its place among the churches.  But this is in your favor: You hate the evil deeds of the Nicolaitans, just as I do
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what He is saying to the churches.  To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.

[Revelation 2:1-7]

“First Love”

Good Afternoon Beloved,

There is a song from a few years back by Avant featuring Ketara Wyatt (I didn’t even know the person’s name, but I still remember the song) … “My First Love”.  The chorus really struck a chord with me:

Long as I live (my first love) you will be my first love.
And I choose you again.

The bible lets us know that before we even knew who He was, God loved us.  There are millions of people who still don’t know, and that is such a shame.

If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.  You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake.  For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the Face of Jesus Christ.

(2nd Corinthians 4:3-6 New Living Translation)

If people only knew the gift God is offering them, accepting Jesus would be a ‘no-brainer’.  Incomparable riches are bound in Him.  What we don’t always fully understand is that the richest person in our world today, no matter how many material items they possess, is a pauper in comparison to a God who owns the universe.  I read of a wealthy gentleman in India who told his family to bury him in his car when he died… and they did.  Now, it was his to do with as he wanted, but … wow.  A person who dies in Christ, no matter how much or how little they had on earth, will gain infinitely more than they could have ever imagined.  Remember:

Eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, neither has entered into the heart of humanity the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

… those who love Him.  It also stands to reason, that if we love God, we love those that He loves also.  You know … the world that can sometimes get on our nerves with their irreverence, arrogance and nastiness, as well as, our brothers and sisters in Christ who don’t always seem very ‘Christ-like’.  These are the very ones He died to save.  Notice, God affirmed His people for their hatred of wickedness … not the wicked.  We are not to tolerate the deeds of evildoers.  There are standards.  There is a time to speak out.  If we see someone heading down a road (in the natural), and we know that the bridge is gone, and they are about to end up in the sea or off a cliff, how cruel would it be for us to let them continue to drive…. and not say anything.  If we tell them, and they reject us, the consequences are theirs alone, but if we don’t tell them, then their blood is on our hands.  We can only do that in the strength, love and wisdom of our God.  When we discover (or rediscover) our “first Love” and we would say in the words of the song…

“and I choose You (Jesus) again”…

… and that Beloved of God is Good News!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Good Morning Beloved,

Happy Monday!…. wow!  Some winter welcome we received today huh DC/Metro?…. 17 bone-chilling, Hawk-biting degrees!  When I think about this season, I am reminded of the truth found in John 3:16, for God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”… That is probably one of the first scriptures most of us learned.  Jesus…. the gift that keeps on giving.  This gift will never get old.  It will never tear, break, or tarnish.  It can’t be lost, stolen, foreclosed on or repossessed.  It will never be too small, too big or go out of style.  God is the same today, yesterday and forevermore.  His gift of Love will keep us all the days of our life and when our days on earth are complete, this gift of love will usher us past angelic hosts into the very presence of the God of all for a great reward.

…. and that… my Royal Sibling is Good News!

U Blessed,

Have A Fabulous Day

Before The Throne

Thursday, December 11, 2008

It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of His robe filled the Temple. Attending Him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other,

“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with His Glory!”

Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.  Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”

I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Good Morning Beloved,

Access…. I never tire of that heavenly promise.  Access to the very Throne of God.  Every time we breathe a prayer of thanksgiving, every time we cry out to God in anguish over a person, or a situation, every time we pause to just bless His name with the fruit of our lips… our prayers are immediately transported to the very Throne of God!  Ahhhh… I don’t think we can ever fully comprehend the magnitude of that on this side of Glory.  My Bishop (Cornell R. Hughes, St. John Christian Power Center) preached a message years ago, “Behind The Scenes”.  If we could get a sneak peak behind the scenes, many of lifes’ aggravations and irritations would be less… well …”aggravatin’ and irritatin’ ().  I am completely amazed when people argue against the diety and reality of God… or ‘intelligent design’.  As complex and wonderful as the human body has been designed, the thought that we just happened… just sorta evolved from slime to apes to the glorius creatures we are.  They have way more faith than I.  That would be like me finding a beautiful pearl and gold cadillac (fully loaded, keys in the ignition, suitcases in the trunk, gold cross hanging from the rear-view mirror) parked at the beach, and saying that it evolved from something in the sea.  You would think I was either terribly mistaken at best, or completely delusional.  We belong to a God who is Sovereign.  There is coming a day when every eye will see Him.  “Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father”.  The thing is not to be on the wrong side of the gate while we’re doing all of that.  Our ultimate desire is to meet Jesus in peace, as His friend and joint-heir, having poured out as much as He put in us on the earth as possible.  Every song, every dance, every piece of literature, every invention, every kind word, every good deed… everything that God has invested in us.  It will be an interesting feat that can never be done, but will be fun trying.  Why can’t it be done?  Because the more you pour out…. the more He pours in…

…. and that my friend is Good News!

U Blessed,

Have A Fabulous Day

JOY (white over festive colors) Thursday, October 30, 2008 JOY (white over festive colors)

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our LORD has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.  When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.  Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.  But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.  And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, He will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.  For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of His Son while we were still His enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of His Son.  So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

Good Morning Beloved,

I feel great today!  I have a sense of excitement and expectation.  First of all, today is my birthday (Yea!!!) and I’m grateful to be alive.  I’m grateful for my mother, Elnora, my daughter Jah, my fabulous friends, church family, and the whole Regal One crew.  I know that I am blessed.  I do not take anything for granted.  Life is a precious gift.  It is even more precious because I have ‘double life’.  I am physically alive and well, and I am a born-again believer, purchased with the blood of the Lamb of God, sealed, filled, and anointed with the Holy Spirit of God, watched over by the Father, guarded by the Angels….. BLESSED!  Life can be rocky, unpredictable, even scary.  During those times words like “trust in the Lord“, and “the joy of the Lord is our strength“, and “Beloved I would above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers“…. rise up in our hearts and give us the strength to know that a better day is coming.

That dearly Beloved is Good News!

U Blessed

Have A Fabulous Day!

Regina

Fear & Love

Written by FAVORED1 on September 12, 2008 – 9:39 am -

Holy Bible: Genuine Soul Food

September 12, 2008

All who confess that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love. We love each other because He loved us first.  If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And He has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their Christian brothers and sisters.

[1 John 4:15-21]

Good Morning Beloved,

Happy Friday!  OUCH!… that smarts!  Love my Christian brothers and sisters?  All of them?  But Lord, some of these folks are ornery, surly, angry, nasty and just plain mean!  Love ‘em anyway.  That’s not natural.  Exactly.  Its super-natural!  The love of God shed in our hearts, gives us the capacity to love the unlovable.  Fear.  There are many definitions of fear.  Fear can be a good thing when speaking of being in awe of or respect for God.  The other fear – being scared- is something different.  That type of fear breeds torment and confusion.  To borrow a line from my dear Sister-in-Christ Melanie Best’s play, “Convicted:  A Christian”, that fear will have you scared to leave your house and scared to stay in it… the only place left to go… IS CRAZY!.  There are people who live and breathe CNN, MS NBC, Fox News etc.  These people live in constant fear and dread of everything.  No wonder they tend to have such a dim outlook on the world.  We need balance and levity.  Be informed, but protect your spirit from an overdose of morbidity.  Remember the times during which your bible was written.  Remember the times during which your bible was translated. Dark, grim times.  There were wars, famines, pestilences, tragedies, but the Word was the same.  It never changed.  It still said:

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.  [Philippians 4:19]

The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. [Deuteronomy 28:7]

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble
Psalm 46:1

He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. [Isaiah 40:29]

That is just a small taste of what God’s Word said.  It never said we would not have difficult days, but that difficulty should never overtake us to the point of despair.  When it threatens to do just that, we have an Advocate, Friend, Brother, King, God, who really is on our side to see us through.

…. and that my friend is Good News!
