And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith GOD, I will pour out of My SPIRIT upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams

[Acts 2:17]

Good Afternoon Beloved!

Sorry for the delay… technical difficulties.  Yesterday we commemorated a day set aside to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  All over the airwaves, I heard snippets of his timeless “I Have A Dream” speech.  I remember hearing his daughter, Rev. Bernice King say that her father was a prophet.  It was as though her were looking down the annals of time and letting us know what was coming.  I believe he saw the day and time that we are living in, but I believe he would have loved to have been able to experience some of the fruits of his labor.  The Bible is honest and balanced.  It lets us know that every day will not be sunny, and that we will not always “tiptoe through the tulips” or “lie on a flowery bed of ease” as my mother and grandmother used to say.  There will be difficult days, there will be days of preparation, (one of the most common complaints I hear from the young folks around me is that they are so “bored”.. I tell them they’re in prep time) there will be days so hectic we may feel as though we’re drowning.  Hold on… God did not bring you this far to leave you.  He is right by your side, no matter what you’re going through.  He gave us a dream.  Something to keep the fire burning with our hearts.  Something to give our life purpose and energy.  Age is no excuse to quit (you know who I’m talking to ahem… hint, hint ) … I often tell my friends that the “Five Blind Boys of Alabama” are still touring … after 55 years… so we have no excuse!  My sister-in-Christ Melanie Best is a prolific playwright and author.  She has a new play that will be performed at her church on February 7th called “Blessed and Highly Favored”.  It is an absolutely powerful production that deals in a sensitive manner with childhood bullying, low self worth and suicide.  There is a line in there that I really love and it has stuck with me.  A child asked why she couldn’t have the finer things in life if her mother’s dreams had really came true.  The wise mama tells her that “some dreams are for ourselves, some are for other people and some are for the whole world to benefit from, but the dream that comes from God will turn out just right”.  What a Truth!  No matter what it looks like in the natural, remember, “faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen”.  Trust God and hold on to your faith.  He is “well able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that you can every ask or imagine” … keep your dream alive…guard it from the assassins that have been sent by the destroyer to kill it.  “Fight the good fight of faith.”  Remember that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”  We are “over-comers”!!! … I peeked at that end of the book and uhhhh…. we WIN!

.. and that Beloved is Good News!

“Victoriosity”

For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

 1 John 5:4

“Victoriosity”

Good Afternoon Beloved,

You know I thought I was making up some new word, until I did a word search and found out that others use the word as well.  I even had my own definition, “the state of being victorious”… oh well … the bible told us that there was nothing new under the sun .  Do you realize that in order to have ‘victory’, there must first be a battle.  I know we don’t like fighting,  but that is just the way it is.  My mom was teaching bible class once and she described it this way.

“We are all in the battle.  You can sit on the battlefield in full battle fatigues with your gun and ammunition sitting on the ground, or you can get up and use what God gave you…. it is up to you…. but you are still in the battle nevertheless”…..

That has stuck with me for many years.  We have an enemy whether we like it or not.  He hates us because he hates God.  He can’t slap God, so he tries to strike out and destroy those God loves… us.  It is like a bully who although afraid to take us on, goes after our children.  Now, we know what would happen in the natural… the fight would be on!  That is fine when the child is a child, but now fast forward a few years.  Say the ‘child’ is 21, and someone on their job is bothering them.  Do we go up to their office, punch the person in the face, and create a scene, or do we let them handle it.  We let them handle it.  Why?  Because hopefully, by that time we will have instilled in them the tools they need to deal with the situation the right way.  God is much the same way.  Some things He is not going to step in and handle.  Why?  Because He has given us the tools and the authority to do it ourselves.  That sounds strange to us doesn’t it?  Ever notice how God never changed a single animals’ name in the Garden of Eden.  Whatever Adam called them, that is what they are called today.  Remember this:

Then He (Jesus) called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.  Luke 9:1

Wow … They were His disciples…. and so are we.  Not only that, but we are His family…..

…. and that Beloved is Good News!
U Blessed!

I heard someone say that a good fight is one you win. In our fight of faith, we can take courage from knowing that God promises that we will win in the end.
