The Promise…

Good Morning Beloved!

Happy Friday!  … Jesus said that He would “never leave us nor forsake us”.  How long is never?  No matter where we are… there He is.  Sometimes so silent we wonder if He didn’t turn His head away from us.  I’ve heard the heart cry of many of God’s people who want to know “why?”.  Why are they going through what they’re going through.  Why is the wicked seemingly prospering even as they curse and mock the name of God at every turn.  We are not alone in that sentiment.  All throughout the Bible God’s own have had the same question… from Job to Jesus.  Why?  We have the benefit of seeing how their stories turned out, but our own story isn’t finshed yet.  God is turning situations around, and strengthening us in the middle of where we are.  On my job I have been stretched and tested for the past two weeks.  The blessing of having God’s Word in me, is that in the midst of whatever-it speaks to my heart and encourages me.  I am learning things that will stand me in good stead.  Valuable information.  Keeping in mind that God has promised that He would be with us always.  He will never leave nor forsake us.  How many have said that they could not have deserted Jesus, if they saw Him with their own eyes.  In the text, we learn that some of Jesus disiciples that were with Him, who witnessed His miracles first-hand.. doubted.  We have the benefit of not only knowing what they knew, but we have had our own experiences.  Didn’t He make a way before?  Remember, His “ways are not our ways, nor His thoughts our thoughts”.  “All things” really will “work together for our good” … it may not BE good, but it will work out FOR our good.  I am typing this offering of love, but our story, even though it is still being written out in our everyday life, in the eyes of the Master it is already finished… and it is a best seller.  He knows that.. He’s just waiting for us to catch up with Him and know that too.

Good Morning Beloved,

This is one of those statements that may confuse some people.  “Preacher, I thought you said keep moving, how do I keep moving and be still at the same time?”  Glad you asked.  Discernment.  I say that a lot.  Discernment is a “stretching” of our spiritual “muscles”.  Knowing when to “move” and when to be “still”.  It is also possible to be still even while we’re moving.  Developing a habit of quieting our spirit when a tumult tries to arise within us.  There will be times when it seems as though we are pressed and attacked from every side.  During the times when we are being bombarded from the outside, there may also be a storm brewing on the inside of us.  We can be assaulted by thoughts of things that have not even happened.  The Lord tells us to “be still”.  While we’re kicking and screaming, we’re  drowning in our circumstances, and we can’t hear.  He’s telling us what we need to do, and either we can’t hear Him, or we are ignoring His instruction because we don’t want to do what He is saying ()!  Our Heavenly Father said, “know that He is God”.  Knowing who He is will rebuild and reinforce our foundation and strengthen every area in us that is trying to fall apart.  We will see our situations through a new set of eyes.  We realize that “greater is He that is within me then he that is in the world”.  When our spirit is jumping out of control, we need to tell it to “get somewhere and sit down…God is all in the midst of this, and nothing is beyond His notice or control”.  That is the epitome of the saying, “get a hold of yourself”.  Remember one of the fruits of the spirit is “self-control”.  Ideally, we get control of ourself, and give it to God.  Whatever gets our focus will have control over our heart.  When our focus is on God, and what He has already promised, wonderful things happen.  

For the Eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

In Loving Memory of Bishop Walter Hawkins…. truly one of Gospel’s greats, he will be missed, but his music will live on forever.  I appreciate the impact his ministry has had on my life and growth in Jesus over the years.  It has been a great source of comfort, strength and rejuvenation since I accepted Jesus.  Thank God for Bishop Hawkins… a true gift to the body who epitomized excellence in ministry for many, many years.

Good Morning Beloved,

HAPPY FRIDAY!  I am so excited.  Not just because it’s Friday, but just…. because.  Ever had days like that?  It is a wonderful feeling.  Much of our Christian lives are spent believing God for what is yet unseen.  Promises He made in His Word and promises He set in our hearts.  If God said it… it is a sure thing.  Trusting in God is completely liberating.  We can love people without fear of being taken advantage of, because we love them with the love of Jesus.  Whatever their motives, it doesn’t matter, because no matter what… God sees all and knows all.  Remember He said that He would not let us be tempted beyond what we are able to bear.  I believe the same holds true for every other area in life.  If someone is trying to take advantage of us in business, in church, in matters of the heart or any where else, I believe they will eventually stumble and fall.  No weapon formed against us shall prosper and God will reveal every hidden device of the enemy.  Nothing spooky or weird.  Sometimes it is just a soft ‘knowing’ or a quiet, “uh-uhhh” in our heart, letting us know to keep the situation at arm’s length.  In the times that we are living in, this type of God-given discernment is not just a good idea, it can be life-saving.  Jesus told His disciples to be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves”… God has invested power and authority in us.  He has endowed us with His Holy Spirit, blessed us with His Word, and He has given us a sound mind, with common sense.  The bible teaches us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong-holds.  So we have some stuff in our arsenal… we just need to use it.
