O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him.
[Psalm 34:8]
“ummmm-ummm GOOD”
Good Afternoon Beloved,
Ever wonder why some of the most delicious foods are bad for you? Even some of our healthy treats have been recently under attack (remember the tainted pistachios and peanuts?). I read an article not too long ago warning of the danger of drinking too much water! It leads our heart to wonder, “well, what can we eat and drink?”. I’ve decided to take heed to the warnings, and pray over everything that goes into my mouth
. Food is a subject that the bible has a lot to say about. It seemed to be a central theme in much of the ‘happenings’ in biblical times. Wedding feasts, passover feasts, ‘we have a guest in our home’ feasts … there seemed to be a feast for just about every occasion. Those folks loved to eat! Sounds like us
. Think of how many of our holidays are centered around food… Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, Forth of July etc. etc. Even in the business world, food has become a major selling point for many a meeting. A question I’m hearing more and more, “is there gonna be food?”
. Many of us are learning healthier ways to cook and eat and that is really good. The thing is that no matter how healthy, if it isn’t appetizing, chances are it won’t be eaten. Our family is on a lower sodium diet. It just makes sense. If one member of the family can’t eat certain foods, we modify our dinners accordingly. The change was so natural, and the foods taste so good that we don’t even notice what is missing. The funny thing is, that when we eat out, we notice the difference and things taste really salty at times. They didn’t add more… we are the ones who changed. Hey, tastes change. I remember my mother telling me when I was a kid, that one day I wouldn’t be so crazy about candy… she was right. Now, I can take it or leave it. The one flavor that actually gets sweeter with time is Jesus. The closer we get to Him the sweeter He gets. The better we know Him, the more we understand His ways. We can smell His aroma through the pages of scripture. Each book gives us a different view of the same Savior…
