Therefore by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all those who believe. For there is no difference, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:20-24  (21st Century King James Version)

  Short…

Good Morning Beloved,

This was one of the first passages I remember hearing my Bishop, (Cornell R. Hughes, Washington, DC) of 21 years say.  He said that in his wild “before Christ” days over 30 years ago, he had a terrible heroin addiction.  He spoke of how he would try to buy the drug, and if the price was $20 and all he had was $19.99, they would tell him to go and find the penny.  They dealer would say “no shorts”.  He fast forwarded to the day that he gave his life to Jesus.  He had heard that everybody was ‘short’ in the eyes of God… and you could come to Him… as the song declares “Just As I Am Without One Plea”.  For those around us who say that they will come once they “get themselves together” or “after they’ve had their fun” … forget about it!  If we could get ourselves together, Jesus would have never had to leave His Throne in Glory, come to Earth, live, teach, suffer and die for us.  Even for those of us who know and love Him.  We have our good and bad days, but our lives are hidden in Him.  Now, that does not give us license to just lose our minds and commit random acts of foolishness because we know we’ll be forgiven.  We will have to face the consequences of our actions, not to mention we give the enemies of God space to mock not only us, but our God.  The “Gospel”… the Good News” is that His love for us won’t ever change, and we have been justified by Christ~

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…

..peace with God.. wow.. and that Beloved is Good News!

There Is None Like Jesus

“There is None Like Jesus”

Good Morning Beloved,

Jesus is real and He is awesome!  I mean when we really stop to think about His character He is fabulous!  Years ago, I had to fly to Atlanta for a business meeting.  It was my very first time on a plane and, let’s just say terrified could not adequately describe the fear I felt.  I did what any new born again believer would do…. I prayed, told God my life was in His hands, that He was the same God who protected me everyday on the ground, and this would be no different.  Then I promptly …. continued to be scared out of my wits … until I grabbed my little ‘purse’ bible and started to read.  As I read about through the Gospels, I saw a picture of our Savior.  Jesus… wise, kind, powerful, no-nonsense, straight-forward, compassionate with a great sense of humor.  He loves people, but He is not controlled by them.  He knew His purpose and even through His crises in the Garden of Gethsemane, there was no doubt that He would complete His mission, and glorify The Father.  There is none like Him.  Many put themselves in harm’s way every day to save the lives of perfect strangers.  Some even save people they don’t like.  Our Lord Jesus loved us so much that He sacrificed His life to place us back in fellowship with Himself.  He was the only One that could do it.  He is complete perfection.  We didn’t even know what was missing… but He did.  We didn’t know how lost we were… but He did. We didn’t know the horrors that were waiting for us… but He did.  After His bloody, horrific death, He was buried.  The blessed truth for the Child of the Living God is that He didn’t stay there.  He went to Hell and took the keys to death, hell and the grave and on the third day He got up.  He didn’t forget His disciples, hiding in fear.  The King of kings appeared to them, comforted them, gave them instructions, endowed them with power, and ascended to His Heavenly Throne.  What a mighty God we serve! He is so unique and all encompassing, that He can dwell on high and in our hearts at the same time.  How does that work?  He is God.  He is the God of all who embrace the gift of Jesus.

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name…

John 1:12

There is none like Him… and that my friend is Good News!

I Want Beautiful Feet

Written by FAVORED1 on September 9, 2008 – 10:07 am -

Holy Bible: Genuine Soul Food

Good Morning Beloved,

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel [ Hebrew ~ of Zion.] reigns!

Isaiah 52:7

I want beautiful feet!  It is my desire to spread the ‘Good News’ of the bible wherever I go.  I desire to be a living testimony.  I don’t want to be an obnoxious, sour-faced Christian that tries to scare people off of the road to hell.  That may work for some, but that’s not me.  I want people to know that hell is real… as real as heaven, and that God provided a way of escape because of His tremendous, tenacious love for us.  I remember being yelled at as a child.  I also remember my thoughts at the time.  I learned to tune out the “yell-er”.  In my mind, I was thinking, “OK, they’re almost done………” “DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID!?” “uh-huh…. OKaaaaaaaaaaa“.  In some of our households, we could actually time how long the tirade would last.  As an adult now, I fully understand the frustrations and pressures of raising a family.  Children are an excellent mirror.  They show you, you.  Whatever issues, internal struggles, fears, irritations, etc. we have will surface.  I heard of a preacher who said, “stop trying to beat yourself out of them kids”.  I recognize that much of my parenting skills is a direct reflection of how I was raised.  There are little differences here and there, but for the most part it is pretty much the same.  I was raised knowing how important I was to my family (some may say spoiled).  Be that as it may, as a child/teen, my mother always knew where I was (and none of us had a cell phone).  She knew the people I hung with, and where I spent the night.  She had rules in her house, going to school and getting decent grades was not an option.  After graduation, I knew I was either to get a job, or go to college, but sitting at home, or running the streets and doing nothing, was not an option either.  My mom was always a lady that I held in high esteem, and I watched her transition from the designated driver in her party crew, into a Godly woman with “beautiful feet”.   She has a quiet dignity, that exemplifies Christ.  She did something that changed my life.  She prayed for me, and put me in the hands of God.  She had already taught and instilled what she knew at the time in me, and she believed God for a harvest of her planting.  All of what she did, developed and shaped my character, and those teachings are stuck in my spirit today.  It has also been transferred to my daughter, and I do not take it for granted.  I bless God for her.  The Bible tells us to have our “feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace”.  Walking in peace….. it is possible, I’m learning that more and more everyday.  Some days, I admit it is really hard.  There are times when we are blind-sided with non-sense, in those tough times prayer is the key.  Also, a good friend who knows God is an powerful weapon in your arsenal.  Sometimes we just need to vent in a safe place.  God understands that, remember, He said that it was “not good that man be alone”… and God Himself was right by man’s side walking and talking with him.  If you do not have somebody close to you with “beautiful feet”, please find one ASAP… you’ll be so glad you did.

….. that’s Good News!

U Blessed,

Who Is This King?

Written by FAVORED1 on September 3, 2008 – 10:02 am -

Good Morning Beloved,

So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.  And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.  [John 1:14]

Today I was thinking about God, and a Word hit my spirit.  God’s kids need to be reminded of who He is and what He has done.  There are those in the family of God, who have been taught of God, but have become desensitized to the message of the Gospel.  They have in essence forgot God.  One of the admonishments God gave the children of Israel, was that when He brought them into the ‘good’ land…. not to forget Him.  Why would He say that?  How can a God that has done so much be forgotten?  I used to point my finger, and shake my head at faithless, forgetful Israel.  That is until I was directed to look at myself and my nation.  We are a nation who God has abundantly blessed.  Our poorest day is richer than most in the underdeveloped world around us.  Many would love to have our problems.  Rising fuel… they have none.  Rising electric.. they have none.  Rising food costs…. they are starving.  Inflated water bills… they walk miles for one bucket of water, other than that, they must share with every other living creature in the village.  Irritating family members….  people are dying in droves.  Frustrating co-workers.. there are no jobs.  We are so blessed.  Despite ourselves… we are blessed.  God has favored us.  We have many wounds and scars.  As individuals, as a people, as a nation… God loves us…. scars and all.  He created us.  He formed the first man Adam out of the dust of the earth and breathed life into Him.  He literally gave Adam the world.  He gave him dominion and authority over everything He had made.  God brought the animals to Adam to see what He would call them, and whatever Adam called them, that’s what they became.  From that day until this.  A horse is still a horse…. a lamb is still a lamb.  Everything was going along fine.  However, there was a jealous, dangerous entity lurking about the Garden of Eden.  This being could not stand that this beautiful new species called Man and Woman had so much favor with God.  He absolutely hated them, and set out to destroy them.  Knowing how much the Sovereign One cared for these irritating little creatures, the evil one knew that hurting them, would be his only way to strike out at The All Powerful One.  See, in his eyes, God had made a mistake.  He gave these creatures free will.  They were not commanded to love Him.  They were given only one rule… do not eat from the tree in the midst of the garden.  ONE TREE…. out of all the other trees they could freely eat from.. they were told not to eat from that ONE TREE.  This is where their free will would be tested.  They could choose, and he determined that he would cause them to choose to disobey God.  His plan worked.  Adam and Eve were banished from God’s Garden, but to his surprise not from God’s sight.  To the evil one’s utter dismay and astonishment, not only did God clothe these creatures, but God promised them that He had a plan, for them to get back what had been lost.  The devil had no idea what God had in Mind.  He only knew that it had something to do with the woman and a male child.  So, for generations he attacked women and their sons, trying to destroy whatever it was God was going to do.  We can glean in scripture that the devil really didn’t knew what to make of Jesus.  He couldn’t tempt Him.  None of his tactics that had worked before on other holy men of God, influenced Him.  So, he sought to set Him up and kill Him.  His plan worked, or so he thought.  He did not realized that this was God’s plan all along.  God sent His only begotten Son, to buy back what Adam had sold to the kingdom of darkness.  The excruciating death of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary paid our debt.  Not only that but He gave us full access, with unlimited benefits, to the presence of God.  We can pray anytime, anywhere and we can be assured that God hears our prayer.  The well-beloved Son of the Most High God legally holds the title deed to our world.  As I’ve said before, satan’s power is the power of suggestion.  It is limited, but powerful nonetheless.  However, God is greater and He lives.  He is so powerful, He can live in heaven and dwell on the inside of us all at the same time.  He has a listening ear and open arms.  He is all wise and all knowing. He is compassionate, and His love is never-ending.  He is also, King and Sovereign.  Supreme Ruler of the Universe.  He is not a made up fairy tale, and the bible is not a collection of fables… He is GOD.

….. and that is really Good News!

U Blessed!

Have A Fabulous Day

Regina

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
