Who has believed our message?
To whom has the Lord revealed His powerful arm? My Servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground.  There was nothing beautiful or majestic about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him.  He was despised and rejected— a Man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.  We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way.  He was despised, and we did not care.
Yet it was our weaknesses He carried; it was our sorrows that weighed Him down.  And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for His own sins!  But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.  He was beaten so we could be whole.  He was whipped so we could be healed.  All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.  We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on Him the sins of us all.  He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet He never said a word.  He was led like a Lamb to the slaughter.  And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, He did not open His mouth.  Unjustly condemned, He was led away.  No one cared that He died without descendants, that His life was cut short in midstream.  But He was struck down for the rebellion of My people.
He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone.  But He was buried like a criminal; He was put in a rich man’s grave.
But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush Him and cause Him grief.  Yet when His life is made an offering for sin, He will have many descendants.
He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in His Hands.  When He sees all that is accomplished by His anguish,
He will be satisfied.  And because of His experience, My Righteous Servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He will bear all their sins.  I will give Him the honors of a Victorious Soldier, because He exposed Himself to death.  He was counted among the rebels.  He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

[Isaiah 53 New Living Translation]

So Beautiful!

Good Afternoon Beloved,

God is good and His mercy endures forever!  I hope this beautiful Good Friday finds you well and in good spirits.  What happened to my Savior on my behalf was ugly, but He is beautiful beyond all comprehension.  We will never fully understand the depth of His love, nor the agony of His Crucifixion.  “The Passion of the Christ”, by Mel Gibson was an excellent depiction.  I heard Jim Caviezel (the actor who portrayed Jesus), talk about his experiences while working on the film.  He was struck by lightning and left virtually unharmed, his shoulder was dislocated, he was left on the cross for hours…everybody forgot he was there as they broke for lunch… he was accidentally struck by the whip, (which left him with a permanent scar), he developed pneumonia and suffered hypothermia as sudden wind gusts rocked the cross he was on.  Talk about suffering for your art!  He believed so adamantly that it was a film that needed to be made, that to this day he has no regrets.  His prayer was for someone not to see him, but to see Jesus and be converted.  His prayer was answered… many people came to Christ as a result of this movie, including a Muslim actor who portrayed one of the soldiers. Countless lives have been changed, and Christians whose relationship with God had grown stale and stagnant were revitalized, and fell in love with Jesus all over again!  Powerful!  It reminded us that the price Jesus paid for us was staggering!  He died for us… can we live for Him? (umph..I heard you this morning Janelle..thank you for the reminderHe rose again, so that we could rise with Him, so that we could be seated with Him in Heavenly places, and not us alone, but the invitations have gone out to all humanity!  “Whosoever will …” !

… and that Beloved is Good News!

The Greatest Love Story In The World

“For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.

{John 3:16-17 New Living Translation}

THE GREATEST LOVE STORY IN THE WORLD

Good Afternoon Beloved,

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! MySpaceGraphicsandAnimations.orgWhat a blessing those words are!  God “so loved the world”… the world… wait a minute.. the world?  Yes.  Lest we forget, the mission of the Son of God has always been salvation.  Why?  Because God loved the little human entities He created and put on planet earth.  That kind of love is incomprehensible to us.  We sing about it, we write about it, we muse about it.  There are television broadcasts that try to explain it, and others that try to disprove it.  We are finite beings.  We only know, what we know.  Our knowledge is not all inclusive and there is always a margin for error in our judgment.  Our God.  The Almighty God and the Lover of our souls… is not like that.  His love is based on past, present and future knowledge.  He knows what we’ve done (everything), what we didn’t do that we should have done, and what was done to us.  There is nothing that we can ever do to make Him love us more or less.  While we were completely ignorant of His love, He loved us… and He loves them …the people who thumb their noses at Him on a daily basis. Those who curse and vilify Him. Those who steal, kill and destroy without mercy.  Murmurers, complainers, mockers, blasphemers… my God!  What an awesome God … so powerful and yet so merciful.  What is worldliness?  Is it a style of clothes? A genre of music?  A television show or movie?  I have been pondering on this all week.  I believe it is so much more.  The clothes, music, shows may be by-products, but the real spirit of “The world” is something some much deeper and even more subtle.  It is a shift in mindset away from the holiness and truth of the Living God to another god.  There was a time when the saints could not dance because it was deemed “worldly”.  Yet, in biblical times the people of God have always danced.  Musical instruments were considered unGodly in the not so distant past, but in the Bible there were musicians who played and the Glory of God appeared.  Young David chased away the evil spirit from Saul, by playing his harp (1 Samuel 16:23) .  I believe I understand why the concentration on the externals.  The saints were so conscious of the blessedness of Heaven and the horrors of hell that they did not want anyone to miss Heaven. They drew the line in the sand, so to speak, as far away from possible backsliding and everlasting torment as possible.  For most of them, they were coming from a place of love and concern.  The bible tells us that “all things are lawful, but not all things are expedient (1 Corinthians 6:12 & 1 Corinthians10:23) ()”.  I know that scares a lot of well meaning  saints of the Most High ().  They see that as “license” for people to live raggedy lives (as if they really needed a license) that could cause them to be lost forever.  So what do we do?  Well, Go has sent His Spirit to dwell in us.  One of the Holy Spirit’s roles is that our ”Teacher”.  He will lead and guide us into all Truth so that we never need to live a lie.  We can’t go wrong listening to Him.  If something feels ”wrong” in your spirit, don’t do it.  There are saints who drink wine, and those of us who don’t.  That may shock you… but they may love Jesus just as much as you do.  The wine itself is not the problem… excess is.  There are cultures where wine is a part of their meals and they have no problems drinking whatsoever.  The bible is very clear on what sin is.  God does not have a problem telling us what is displeasing in His eyes.  He wrote it so that there would be no confusion.  In spite of all of this, there will be those who turn their backs on that love and refuse to give their lives to God.  God still loves them, but if they have made their choice, He will honor that choice, and they will face an existence separated from Him in a place that He never intended for them to go… hell.  But, LOVE … not a wishy-washy, flimsy, flippant type of love, but a steadfast, faithful, strong, never-changing but ever-evolving type of love… (I say ever-evolving because, though He never changes, we do and at ever stage in our development we are introduced to another level of Gods’ love) that’s what our God has for us…

… and that Beloved is Good News!

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as My Father has sent Me, even so send I you.  And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive you the Holy Ghost

(John 20:21-22)

Piece of God = Peace with God

Good Morning Beloved,

God is so good.  Picture it… Jesus had just been crucified.  The disciples saw Him die (from a distance).  They were hiding in fear that they would be next to suffer the same fate as their Lord.  Suddenly, Jesus appears in the room.  The first thing He says to them is, “Peace, be still” .  Remember how frightened they were when He walked on water through the storm.  They thought He was a ghost then, and as far as they knew He was still alive, so you can imagine how they felt after watching Him die and now… here He is.  They realized after talking with Him that, first of all it was Him… He showed them the nail prints.  Then He gave them clear instructions on what they were supposed to do (basically get out of that room and get to work ), as well as the power to do it.  It is interesting to me that the first words out of the mouth of the Lord was “Peace” and that His first action was to breath on them.  He gave them the Holy Spirit… a piece of Himself.  The onus was on them to receive what He gave them.  Only by the power of the Holy Spirit could they have been enabled to go through what they went through.  They were beaten, tortured, maligned, banished, imprisoned and killed for the name of Jesus… and they felt honored to do so.  They knew the Truth, and the Truth had set them free from what men could do to them.  They went from fearful to faithful.  Their strength was increased.  May God help us to have that same tenacity in times of trouble.  To hold fast to our confession, and trust in the Lord no matter what is happening around us.  This weekend I had what I like to call a teachable moment from on high.  My daughter and I were coming home from church and encountered a road block.  There had just been a five car accident, and the police diverted all traffic on that side.  I am extremely unfamiliar with this particular area.  Add that I was tired, it was late, dark and the roads were icy and you have a recipe for potential disaster.  The GPS was inadvertently left home and no one I called could help me.  I was completely lost.  I could feel fear starting to rise in my heart, and knew that if I ‘lost it’ it would only make a bad situation worse… so I kept on driving…. I started out in Upper Marlboro Maryland and ended up 5 miles from Waldorf in my attempt to reach my destination… Southeast DC!  I was going in the complete opposite direction!  I turned around praying for the little green sign that would say “Washington“.  I saw one… and then nothing but long dark lonely highway after that.  I held on to the last sign I saw and kept straight.  Eventually, I begin to enter into familiar territory and finally we made it home.  A 25 minute trip took 2 hours!  I was so grateful.  The peace of God kept me, because a ‘piece’ of God is in me…

… WHOA!….. now THAT Beloved is Good News!

U Blessed!
