Peace = Trusting The Lord

HALLELUJAH!!

Good Morning Beloved,

HAPPY FRIDAY! …AWWWW… gotta break out praisin’ Morris!

What a beautiful day!

I’ve been ”out-of-pocket” for a few days.  I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream on Saturday.  I had a laser procedure (PRK) done on my eyes.  I’ve had very poor vision for as long as I can remember.  I can remember when the procedure first started gaining popularity.  I determined to watch it a few years, while they worked out the “bugs and the kinks”.  I was really fearful.  God encouraged me to put my trust… and my eyes in His Hands… not the doctors.  Isn’t it funny how we can say that we trust God, until it comes to something as valuable to us as our sight.  Actually, trust without risk is really not true trust at all.  Trust involves risk.  Faith in its purest form, is like the faith of a child.  When I was a child, I never worried about whether or not I would eat or have what I needed.  It just happened. My mother tells the story of me saying to her “I know you don’t have much money, but you have a credit card”.  Clueless.  I had faith in her that she had whatever I needed.  I didn’t know where it came from.  That involved a risk I knew nothing about.  There are parents who are destitute.  Financially, spiritually or morally bankrupt.  Children are abused and neglected every day.  I bless God for my mother and grandmother because my life would have been so much different if they had been unable to care for me.  The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all of our heart and not to lean, or depend on our own understanding, but in all of our ways to acknowledge Him, to put Him “all up in it”, and He shall direct our path.  What a promise!  God LOVES it when we trust Him.  He’s a big God, and He wants us to trust Him enough to allow Him to do “Big” things through us.  If we are not “prayerful”, we fall into a common misconception that God is going to do everything “for us”, when in reality, His plan is to work His will “through” us.  There are some areas in our life where we are waiting on God to move.. and God is waiting on us.  He has given us everything we need. Many of us have been in church most of our lives and we know the Word of God, which is His Will.  Some of us start. Stop. Start again. God is looking for consistency in us.  He is looking for someone in whom He can show Himself strong in… can you join with me in saying.. “Here I am Jesus!”

… and that Beloved is Good News!

God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?
[Numbers 23:19]

…. AND IT IS SO…

Good Afternoon Beloved,

Happy Friday!  I hope your Thanksgiving Day was as beautiful and memorable as mine.  Number 23:19 is a really strong statement.  If God said it.. it is so.  No matter what it may look like to the natural eye.  No matter what is going on in the economy.  No matter our age or affliction. If He said it, then it shall come to pass.  Period.  End of discussion.  The only dilemma I’ve had is determining if He said, I said it or somebody else said it.  Once I am confident that it was indeed the Lord’s will, I realize that it is a done deal.  Even when it does not make sense to my “senses”.. I have to remember He said, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways… (Isaiah 55:8).  In His Word, He made promises to His beloved.  He promised that we would be the “head and not the tail”… “above only and not beneath”  (Deuteronomy 28:13), “the lender and not the borrower”  (Deuteronomy 28:44).  He said He would “never leave nor forsake us” (Hebrews 13:5), and that the “people that do know their God shall be strong and will do exploits”  (Daniel 11:32).  He promised “that no good thing will He withhold from those who walk upright” (Psalm 84:11).  He never promised that we would never endure hardship.  As a matter of fact, we are admonished to “endure hardship as a good soldier”  (2 Timothy 2:10).  His Word is solid.  It is not like the word of a fallible human being.  Some folks mean well, but they are not all powerful, sovereign, or omnipotent. I’ve heard it said that many people judge God, based on the relationship they had with their earthly father. If that man was untruthful and untrust-worthy, they translate that over into their walk with God.  They will not give God their heart completely, because they are afraid they will be disappointed and hurt like they were with their natural father.  That can never happen.  Yes, we can be disappointed when we attach something to God that He never promised.  If we misinterpret His Word, that is not on Him.. it is on us.  God is so wonderful that He says “come, let us reason together” (Isaiah 1:18).  Let’s talk about this God is saying.  Let’s get this situation together.  Let Me recalibrate your heart, mind, will and emotions so that we’re on the same page.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My Hand.
[John 10:27-28]

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.[Jeremiah 29:11]

Everybody Has Faith… In What Is the Question! ;)

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.
[
Matthew 17:20]

And the Lord said, If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you might say to this sycamine tree, Be you plucked up by the root, and be you planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
[
Luke 17:6]

Everybody Has Faith… In What Is the Question! ;)

Good Afternoon Beloved,

The Bible says,

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him…

[2 Chronicles 16:9]

WOW!  God is looking, searching for someone who will have enough faith in Him to trust Him to do exploits through them!  His Eyes are “running”!  WOW!  That’s enough to make me want to dance!  The problem is that many can’t believe that He is who He said He is, and He will do what He said He will do.  Faith is not the issue.  Everyone has been given the “measure of faith” .  Believers and non-believers alike.  Late last night I received an object lesson.  Three young men “strolled” in front of my car.  The problem?  Their light was red, and I was turning a corner.  They looked at me as if I had done something wrong!  The nerve of me driving through through a GREEN light!  I told my daughter that people have “big time” faith.  They had faith in me, that I wouldn’t hit them.  They had faith that I wasn’t in the middle of a medical emergency, or a mental breakdown.  They also had faith in my car -that my brakes were in good working order.  No wonder Jesus told His people to have faith in Him.  He knew that they had some.  The only “fear” we should entertain is the “fear” of the Lord (awe, reverence, respect).   Un-Godly fear is faith in reverse. The belief that something bad is going to happen.  That kind of fear will crush our faith.  Our faith should crush our fear.. the decision is ultimately ours.  God will not make it for us.  He gently admonishes us to simply trust Him.  Trust Him when it doesn’t make “no earthly sense”.  Trust Him when you’ve tried it before, and it didn’t seem to work.  Trust Him when you feel as though you can’t take another disappoinment.  Trust Him when you’re not sure what you should do.  Trust Him when bad news is so prevelant around you, that you feel like “Evilena” in “The Wiz”–‘Don’t Nobody Bring Me No Bad News!”.  Trust Him when things are looking GREAT, trust Him when they’re not.  Trust Him in all the seasons of life.  During winter when life seems cold, miserable and endless.  Spring, when life seems fresh and new, but wet and dreary.  Summer, when it seems hot and exciting, but there’s a danger of becoming content, to the point of laziness.  Fall, when we’re hit with the “unfamiliar” and change is in the air.  Each season has its own beauty.. each its own set of complexities.  In the midst of them all, God is still looking.  Looking for that one who will say yes.  That one who will show up, so He can show “out”.

In The Image Of … Who?

Written by FAVORED1 on February 3, 2010 – 4:07 pm -

Then said He unto me, son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
[Ezekiel 8:12]

*******

So God created man in His own image, in the image of GOD created He him; male and female created He them.

[Genesis 1:27]

In The Image Of … Who?

Good Afternoon Beloved,

God made us… so He knows us.  He knows all of our thoughts, our imaginations, our secrets, our motivations.  That is both scary and wonderful.  Ever stop to think about what God sees in the course of a day.  The death, destruction, debauchery and decay, in the midst of the beauty, innocence, goodness and love.  The faithful among those who twist and pervert His Word at every turn.  Those who would create God in their own image, instead of recognizing that we were made in HIS image.  That thought is stuck in my heart.  God has made it so easy to know Him.  He has placed His own Spirit within us so that we can become more like Him, and He gave us His Holy Word that we can learn of Him.  The more we learn, the more assurance we should have.  I say “should have” because I know that there are people who have spent countless hours in bible study, only to still lead lives of confusion and self-destruction.  We need to have something else.  The Bible says that:

For unto us was the Gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.  [Hebrews 4:2]

Faith is something we all have.  We were all given a measure of faith by our God.  Even those who refuse to acknowledge Jesus as Lord of their lives have faith in something.  When our faith is focused, things begin to happen.  As a side note… do you realize that fear is actually faith in reverse.  Trusting and believing in the negative.  We need to take inventory of everything we’re afraid of… everything we’re afraid to do, and get to the root of what the problem is.  I used to be afraid to speak in public.  An unexpected benefit of working in theater ministry is that it completely killed that fear.  The root of my fear, was a fear of looking crazy or saying something foolish.  I was afraid I would fall or embarrass myself… I have experienced ALL of the above, so now… no worries!  I have several friends who have started various ministries.  All of them have the same things in common.  They all love God with all of their hearts, and they are all working toward their vision.  They are not sitting around, waiting for something to happen.  They are filing corporation papers, installing officers in their companies, producing Gospel Stage plays, writing books, etc. etc.  They are doing the “work” of the ministry.  They are all praying and seeking God for direction.  They are all “waiting” on the Lord, but they are not idle.  They have put their hands to the plow and are working in the vineyard. Their Father in Heaven who made them in His image, sees their labor of love, that for many of them, goes unnoticed by people.  He sees and He will reward them openly, because He sees Himself in them… you too.

…. and that Beloved is Good News!

He thinks you are in his spot… that’s why he hates you

“You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and exquisite in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God.  Your clothing was adorned with every precious stone red carnelian, pale-green peridot, white moonstone, blue-green beryl, onyx, green jasper, blue lapis lazuli, turquoise, and emerald— all beautifully crafted for you and set in the finest gold.  They were given to you on the day you were created.  I ordained and anointed you as the mighty angelic guardian. You had access to the holy mountain of God and walked among the stones of fire.  “You were blameless in all you did from the day you were created until the day evil was found in you. Your rich commerce led you to violence, and you sinned. So I banished you in disgrace from the mountain of God.  I expelled you, O mighty guardian, from your place among the stones of fire. Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty. Your wisdom was corrupted by your love of splendor.  So I threw you to the ground and exposed you to the curious gaze of kings.  You defiled your sanctuaries with your many sins and your dishonest trade.  So I brought fire out from within you, and it consumed you.   I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. All who knew you are appalled at your fate. You have come to a terrible end, and you will exist no more.”

[Ezekiel 28:12-19]

He thinks you’re in his spot…that’s why he hates you!

Good Afternoon Beloved,

We don’t like to think that we have an enemy.  We would prefer not to think or talk about him at all.  Maybe we think that if we don’t acknowledge him, he will just go away.  I doesn’t work like that.  We have a very real adversary who hates us for no other reason other than we are treasured by God.  That’s it.  Whether we have a worldwide ministry that leads millions to Christ, or a family ministry that speaks into the hearts of our children, it makes no difference to him. His desire is to stop us… to shut down whatever God has put in our heart to do.  Even if we never did a single thing for the Kingdom of God ever… he would still hate us.  Why?  Well, we have something that he will never have… the heart of the Father.  We have something that he will never experience… forgiveness, restoration, reconciliation… peace with God.  He is on a short leash, operating under a short lease.  His time is just about up.  The Bible gives us a glimpse of his future:
What a comedown this, O Babylon! (Lucifer) Daystar! Son of Dawn! Flat on your face in the underworld mud, you, famous for flattening nations! You said to yourself, ”I’ll climb to heaven. I’ll set my throne over the stars of God. I’ll run the assembly of angels that meets on sacred Mount Zaphon. I’ll climb to the top of the clouds.  I’ll take over as King of the Universe!” But you didn’t make it, did you?  Instead of climbing up, you came down— Down with the underground dead, down to the abyss of the Pit. People will stare and muse: ”Can this be the one Who terrorized earth and its kingdoms, turned earth to a moonscape, Wasted its cities, shut up his prisoners to a living death?”
That is good news for us.  There is coming a day, when his works will cease, and we will look at him and marvel that he was the one he caused so much chaos.  A good reminder, when the enemy wants to remind us of our past, we need to remind him of his future.

Blessed to be a blessing…

And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

[Genesis 39:5]

“Blessed to Be a Blessing”

Good Morning Beloved,

 Happy Monday!

For the outside observer the story of Joseph is one of the most confusing scenarios in the bible.  Here you have a boy whose only real crime was being born to the favored wife.  His daddy doted on him and his brothers hated him.  On top of an already tense situation, God starts to give him dreams where he is lord over his family, and perhaps unwisely, he tells his brothers.  They decide to get rid of Joseph and end up selling him into slavery.  He is sold to Potiphar, captain of Pharaoh’s guard.  Potiphar held a lot of power and prestige, but Joseph’s arrival did something to his household.  The bible says that Potiphar’s house prospered because of the blessing of God that was on Joseph.  The change had to have been radical for anyone to even notice.  Joseph was elevated over the house to the point that Potiphar did not even know what he had.  He completely trusted Joseph.  I believe God does the same with us today.  We are all strategically placed whether we are working in the White House or the House of Pancakes, we are there for a season and a reason, and God will bless that establishment because we are there.  I’ve found that when our season is over at a place, it is over.  We may be ‘down-sized’, or the company may go under, but basically that closed door, is another door opening someplace else for us.   I’ve been there.  At the time, it is uncomfortable and scary.  Our heart screams, “God, what is going on?  I have bills, family, living expenses!  I need a job!”.  God knows our needs before we ask.  While we are squirming under the pressure, the way is already made.  Sometimes we know the answer, but we don’t like it, so we drag our feet through that door.  Once we submit our will to God, and acknowledge that His ways are not like our ways… once we realize that He knows what He is doing because He knows the whole story, and we only know a fraction of it … a large part of the struggle is over.

… and that Beloved is Good News!

U Blessed

Have A Fabulous Day

Father God, in the Name of Jesus.  Forgive us for any way that we have fought against Your will for us.  You know what we are made of.  You know what we are capable of doing through You.  We know that You have a purpose and a mandate on our life.  A destiny that will affect many others.  You have called Your church to be a lighthouse in the middle of dark stormy waters, leading the lost to You.  May we realize that You have already stamped Your blessing on us.  A blessing meant to be a blessing to somebody else.  Father help us to see Your assignment for us today…in Jesus beautiful and matchless name.. amen.

STOP… DROP… and ROLL!

Written by FAVORED1 on March 10, 2009 – 9:25 am -

Holy Bible: Genuine Soul Food

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

“STOP… DROP… and ROLL…”

*******

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
[1 Peter 5:7]

*******

Good Morning Beloved,

Remember what they taught us in school.  If we were ever on fire, they told us to STOP, DROP and ROLL.  We were told that running only made the fire worse, but dropping to the ground and rolling would put the fire out.  Some of us have never been in a physical fire (thank God), but we are surrounded by spiritual, emotional, societal and metaphorical fires.  It could be having more bills than money, or a family that is torn in shreds, or severe health challenges.  Whatever the fire, S D & R is good advice.

STOP! … Take time to pray, meditate and think about the situation.  There is a better solution and sometimes it is easier then we thought.  Ever had an idea ’pop’ in your head, and said, “hmmmm…. why didn’t I think of that before!”.

DROP… Let some stuff go.  Whether it is a foul temper, a toxic relationship, or an unnecessary expense.

ROLL … it off of you and onto the Lord by faith.  Especially if it is something that you have no control over anyway.  We cannot control people, so if it is a person, pray and “roll” them over to the Lord. Do as much as you can, but realize that you are not their God and there is only so much you can do.

It will be spring soon, we can do some ‘spring’ cleaning early.  Not just the house and our closets, but our entire lives.  I was looking through a telephone bill recently, and realized that I have been paying for services in a package, that I rarely use and some of them I never use.  Time to ‘snip-snip’.  A good rule of thumb is, if the thing (whatever it is), has not been used in a year…. get rid of it.  We will find that we are carrying a lot of unnecessary weight (and not just on our body).  Ever lost a few pounds, and felt like you are breathing better… that is because you are.  When we drop whatever weight we are carrying, we will feel so much better and be able to focus on areas that were neglected when we were bogged down….

…. and that my friend is Good News!

U Blessed!

Have A Fabulous Day

Don’t Worry
-Matthew 6:26,27

It can be easy to let yourself fall into the trap of worrying about money. We must learn to trust that God will take care of us, and provide for us, just as He takes care of the birds of the air.

Good Morning Beloved,

Total surrender….ouch… I don’t know about you, but those two words make me a little nervous.  What that tells me about me, is that there are some areas in my life that I’m still trying to hold on to.  Certain rooms in my temple I really don’t want Jesus to see yet.  Why?  hummmm… good question.  The best answer I can think of is, that there are independent places my human spirit that I don’t want to release… the reason … fear.  Fear of doing something that will make me look a little foolish.  Fear of failure… fear of the price that comes along with great success.  Fear of getting hurt – did you notice how many times I mentioned the word “fear”?.  That is probably the main underlying factor.  God said He “did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind”(2 Timothy 1:7)… so where did it come from?  That is a question that we need to ask ourselves.  If we can discover where the fear came from, we can overcome it.  Yesterday’s thought was ‘Get to Steppin’… what hinders our movement?  What is stopping us from releasing ourselves to the God of our Salvation.  How is it that we can trust Him with our souls for the next 100 trillion years and beyond … but are afraid to give Him the 80 or 90 years here on earth….. the question of the ages. No matter what happens, God will do us good and not evil all the days of our lives.  Situations in our life may not always be good, but they will work out for our good….

and that dearly beloved is Good News!

Just Trust … God IS!

Oh, how abundant is Your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear You and worked for those who take refuge in You, in the sight of the children of mankind!

{Psalm 31:19 ~ New Living Translation}

Beloved,

Walk in the favor God has bestowed on you today!  God has already blessed you.  We cheat ourselves when we do not realize who we are, and what we actually have.  Cynicism, fear, and procrastination are all symptoms of a much greater problem… lack of trust. When we trust God, we have hope.  When we are hopeful, we are filled with the belief that no matter what is going on right now, God is.  Not only that, but God is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.  If I get the new job, God is… if I don’t get it … God is.  If I marry that fabulous “Man-a-God”… God is…. If I never get married… God is… If my baby wins the Nobel peace prize, or becomes the nations’ first black woman president… God is…. if she never gets a job… God is.  If I get that dream house…. God is.. if I don’t …God is.  Regardless, of what my family does, regardless of what the nation does, regardless of what the international community does… regardless of what the economy does, regardless of who believes in Him and who does not believe in Him… it does not negate the fact that He is.  God is…. God is past, present and future all rolled into one.  He never changes and is light years away from us in terms of His thinking, but yet He can hear, understand and respond to the simplest prayer uttered from a mouth whose heart calls out to Him.  God is!  I like the word ‘is’… no matter where we are… there He is….

That my precious friend, is Good News!

Have A Fabulous Day

Discern, Discern, Discern…. :0)

Written by FAVORED1 on September 10, 2008 – 9:13 am -

Holy Bible: Genuine Soul Food

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

Then shall you return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves Him not.

Malachi 3:18

But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:14

Good Morning Beloved,

Discernment….. Webster’s describes it as:

…..Keenness and accuracy of mental vision; penetration is the power of seeing deeply into a subject in spite of everything that intercepts the view; discrimination is a capacity of tracing out minute distinctions and the nicest shades of thought. A discerning person is not easily misled; one of a penetrating mind sees a multitude of things which escape others; a discriminating judgment detects the slightest differences.

Real discernment is a gift from God.  For the Christian, it involves faith and trust in our God.  How many times have we been in a situation, and a thought came to mind that did not make sense at the time, but later on it did.  God is a great father, and He teaches us, based on what He knows we can handle.  I drive, but my routes have been pretty much routine.  I was on my way to a rehearsal, in an area I had never driven before, outside of my city.  I was approaching an exit, and “something said” to take it.  I argued within myself… “that doesn’t look right, that’s not what it says on these directions”.  I kept going straight thinking I would see my exit up ahead.  The next thing I know I was greeted by a sign that said “Anne Arundal County”… I was trying to get to Laurel, MD.  (I know people outside of the DC/Metro area have no idea what I’m talking about… trust me… I was way off).  I didn’t know what to do, then I had another thought…. “oh no… I’m heading straight for the Bay Bridge!”… now there was a time in my life where I would have had a complete breakdown AND a panic attack.  This time I looked over at my daughter and laughed.  I said, “Oh well, I know there is a way to turn around, because I am not going over the bridge”.  You see, I was already really late because of my little ’detour’.  I ended up turning around, and the next time I heard that “Something” in my heart, I listened.  I made it to a certain point, admitted I was lost, called my friend, and she came to my rescue.  It makes me realize that God is talking, we’re just not listening.  Other voices are talking too, and they are drowning out His.  Media voices, political voices, familial voices, some well meaning, some not.  Some are righteous and holy, others are reprobate and sacrilegious.  Discernment will cause us to realize truth.  It is one of our most valuable tools, and something God delighted in giving us.

….. and that’s Good News right there!

U Blessed,
Have A Fabulous Day!

Highway Exit

Cartoonist’s Comment:
The Hebrew word translated repent is nacham, which means to turn around, or change one’s mind. On the highway of sin, there is only one destination. Repentance takes us in the opposite direction, to the road that leads to life. (Matthew 7:14 NIV)

Bulletin

Cartoonist’s Comment:

There are plenty of voices in this world telling us that we are going to fail. But if we keep our attention on the Lord and His Word, and trust in Him, we will succeed.
