Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art GOD.

[Psalm 90]

Bored?  Why?

Good Afternoon Beloved!

Welcome to a brand new month!… February the month of L.O.V.E  …and Black History.  Well, speaking of love, last night, I saw a movie based on the life of Solomon.  Solomon, is deemed the wealthiest and wisest of all earthly kings — past and present.  It is ironic that this great king who reigned 40 years in Jerusalem, was defeated not by any great army, or pestilence or lack.. but by his wives (who were all princesses) .. 700 to be exact.. not to mention his 300 concubines (mistresses in modern terms).  He imploded.  He was destroyed from right inside his own house.  The bible says that he “loved many strange women” (1 Kings 11:1-43) and that these women, “turned away his heart” from following God “fully”.  These women came into their marriage to Solomon with their own idols and customs.  Solomon built houses for them and allowed them to build altars and sacrifice to their gods… something God had strictly forbidden — they even built idols to Chemosh and Molech whose followers practiced all sorts of strange rituals, including child sacrifice.  He went a step further and began offering sacrifices to these strange pagan deities to please his women.  His kingdom was in an uproar.  How could their king, whom God had blessed with so much, dare to insult the Holy One, by worshipping false gods.  I noticed that these incidents were recorded as happening when Solomon was “old”.  It made me think of the person who has been in church many, many years and does something so out of character that you fear for their sanity.  The dangerous flip side of “familiarity”.  It is good to draw close to God and seek His face.  To desire to know Him and to bask in His Presence.  What we want to avoid is, becoming so familiar with the things of God, that we twist His Word to make it fit our situation, take Him for granted, or worse, blaspheme His name and “turn away” from Him as Solomon did.  The wise and humble King Solomon that we met in 1 Kings Chapter 3, is now unrecognizable.  Now we are faced with a cynical, angry, hard-headed, murderous King Solomon.  By the end of the 11th chapter Solomon is dead and his kingdom in shreds… by God’s own Hands.  God told Solomon that because of his idolatry, He would split his kingdom.  The only reason he was not killed, or that his son even got to keep one tribe out of the 12, was because of God’s love and respect for his daddy David.  God promised David that he would always have a son on the throne.  Solomon had an advantage most of us have yet to have… the opportunity to talk to God and to hear God speak back to him in an audible voice… twice!  God gave him clear cut instructions… no guess-work involved.  He told him what he needed to do to keep the peace God had placed over his kingdom.  God warned him what would happen, if he chose to disobey, and everything God said came to pass.  The mercy is that the choice was always Solomon’s.  He could have turned back to God at any time.  His story did not end well for him, but we can take so many lessons away from his life.  The best lesson is to always keep our hearts turned toward God, no matter what stage and season we find ourselves in.  To never get to the point where we think we’ve “arrived” and no one can tell us anything.  To keep our hands “busy” and our minds “sharp”.  One of Solomon’s problems seems to be that he was bored — even with 1,000 women!  He had no wars to fight, no kingdoms to conquer, the land was enjoying a season of peace… bought with David’s relationship with God and his fierce army… and he was bored.  God is our dwelling place… we live in Him and He lives in us… whoa!… (pause… breathe) .. He has so much for us that if we were to know it all, we would not be able to handle it… How can we possibly get “bored”?  I am noticing that God is doing a new thing with His youth… I pulled this message from a young brother-in-Christ named Brandon.  I’ve worked with Brandon on a couple of stage productions, and it is beautiful to watch him grow in his relationship with God~
…and who are you doing this job for…because if you were doing it for God you wouldn’t be miserable when you go to work..because in God there’s only fullness of joy…whatever you ‘re doing it should be to glorify the Lord not to just make ends meet..you’re work should be perfect a image of the work of God…because everything he does is perfect and how can you how can you do something perfect when your blinded by laziness and misery….also think of it as a stage in the process of your dream being born

Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed Your commandments.

[Psalm 119:66]

“Stayin’ Fresh in Funky Situations

Good Morning Beloved,

I’m learning more and more everyday to seek wisdom and guidance from God.  The Bible is God-Breathed and alive.  I’ve found the bible to be our instruction manual for daily living.  Its contents are just as relevant in 2009 as it was in 1899 when my grandmother was born.  Each new generation may become more knowledgeable then the previous, but the Wisdom of the Ages, never changes… and that is comforting.  God created this vast Universe, and I believe He wants us to explore it.  He gave us a mind that is capable of conceiving great things.  He has never been in competition with progress.  On the contrary, I believe God has been leading the way, and waiting for us to catch up, like a patient Father.  The Bible says that, “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come. [Matthew 24:14]“.  The Internet, television, radio… all discovered by people, designed by our God to accomplish His purpose.  It is not God’s will that anyone ever be separated from Him.  A person has to be really determined to go to hell.  There is only one exit -Jesus-, and that exit is everywhere.  You go to a stage play.. there He is… watch TV… there He is… turn on the radio… there He is… driving down the street, somebody may be on the corner proclaiming the Good News of who He is.  If a person should miss all of that, the Bible tells us that, The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Psalm 19:1″.  How do we maintain the “freshness” of the anointing God in foul conditions?  Simply by remembering the principals above … the magnificence, power, majesty, brilliance, and intelligence of God.  He has so much more that He wants to teach us.  He is limitless and infinite.  The more we discover, the more there is left to be discovered.  No matter where we are, we are only passing through that situation, on our way to another one. Also, it’s important that we always remember the condition that Jesus delivered us from, and make up our mind not to go back.  What happens to clean clothes mixed in with dirty clothes?  Do the clean clothes make the dirty clothes clean, or do the clean clothes take on the scent and stains of the dirty clothes?  Now, what if we put the clean clothes in a airtight bag with a rose scented freshener, and then piled the dirty clothes on top of it.  I suggest to you that the protectiveness of the bag and the freshener would not only keep the clothes fresh, but would permeate through the bag and leave a scent on the dirty clothes (we’ve experience this returning from our vacations).  Well, Jesus has been called “the Rose of Sharon” and if we’re in the bag with Him, His scent will not only saturate us, but will permeate out to those around us.  He will take us to higher heights and deeper depths in Him … according to our faith, and how much we can handle.

Are you ready? … God is…
